Rose and JD night incounter Pt. 1

(takes place after dinner )
Rose noticed JD and Conner leaving. The look on Melissa's face before she left didn't escape Rose either. She didn't really know what was going on but her stomach sank just the same as she had some suspicions and had seen Melissa around Doug Still, it seemed like others might have been dealing with it and she barely knew Melissa. Her mind must have wandered for a moment because she suddenly heard. "Rose." Sam has been trying to get her attention. "Rose? You good?" Rose nodded. "Yeah. I'm good." "Heath asked me to go on a walk. You sure..."
Before Sam could finish her question Rose interrupted her. "I'm good. Go." Sam and Heath got up, said goodbye to the others at the table, and took care of their trays and trash before heading out.

Kyle and Rose did the same thing about 3 minutes later. They walked out together before Kyle stopped Rose. "Hmm...JD is right down there." Rose bit her lip. "Oh, really." Kyle smiled at her. "I'm not one to tell you what to do but you could go talk to him." Rose breathed a laugh. "Am I that obvious?" "Maybe, not to everyone but I've learned to look for the signs. It's easier on everyone if I know a girl likes me. So, I can be honest with her." "I remember." She smiled at him "Oh, that was nothing. Besides you like him more than you ever liked me." Rose said nothing to that but gave a nod. It was only the truth but then sighed. "There are things about me you don't know." Kyle raised a brow. "Let me guess. You're a little gun shy about relationships because of some relationship in your past?" "What are you, some kind of mind reader?" "What else ever follows after what you just said?" Kyle paused. "Does JD seem anything like your ex? " "No." Which was a good thing but Rose didn't say that out loud. She also didn't mention that the story was more complicated than just an ex. However, that complication wasn't here. "Well, then.." Kyle moved towards the side and glanced down the hallway. "Oh, alright," Rose said and the two of them walked down to where JD was standing.

Kyle then said. "I'm going back to my room to do homework. Night all." And with that he left Rose and JD standing in the hall "So, working out together? Huh?" She smiled at JD. "You know everyone is going to have a field day with that." She wasn't being mean, just factual. But also she didn't sound particularly upset over what he had said.

He seemed to be in thought hearing Rose talk he looked up surprised and happy. "Oh sorry about that. I was told once that was talking before engaging the brain." JD said trying to sound funny. He thought to himself don't blow this JD. "I did not think that through. I was just happy to hear you got on the team and you were not discouraged from your experience." he looked around to see if anyone was watching or listening. "I have had some injuries in my past too." JD paused he seemed to struggle to want to say somthing. "It is crowded here do you want to take a walk?" he asked acting a bit shy.

Rose smiled at JD's response. "It's fine. Really." When he said he was happy she was on the team, Rose nodded. "I'm glad Callahan let me stay on the team." She would let him know about the limited events later but it was kind of noisy in the hallway. So, when he asked if she wanted to go for a walk Rose nodded. "Yes, I'd like that.,

well, that was not hard he thought to himself. "cool, I know we just had dinner but do you want to get something to drink from the coffee stand as we walk? and the lake trail ok or do you feel more confutable with somewhere else." he asked walking with her.

"Coffee sound great. And the lake trail is fine." She started walking with him and when they got to the coffee stand she ordered a cafe latte with a shot of vanilla

He thought for a moment then smiled then looked at Rose "my dad hates when I have caffeine." Then looked back at the person in the coffee stand. "Coffee Mocha with whip cream please" He requested. He quickly pulled out a ten dollar bill and placed it down on the counter. "for both, thank you." he looked back at Rose not giving her the chance to object if she was. "call it a celebration for making the team and I apologies for being a gentleman." he said with a smile.

JD mentioned his Dad hating when he has caffeine and then orders a Coffee Mocha. She couldn't help but breathe a laugh.
When he paid she started to say something but JD stopped her. "Well, then thank you."
She started walking with him towards the lake trail. The trail wasn't that far away but enough time to let her coffee get cool enough to drink. She sipped her coffee as they reached the trail. "Has anyone told the legend of the lake trail?" Rose asked.
