Meanwhile

Sam and Rose got back to their dorm room, after thanking JD for his help with everything. Rose couldn't quite get the young man out of her mind, she was still trying to believe that he had gone that much out of his way for her but she wasn't up for contemplating on it too much.

Rose sat down and Sam looked at her. "You look exhausted."

"I'm ..."

"Please don't say 'fine'", again." Sam had interrupted Rose before she could finish as she didn't believe fine was a good or even logical answer.

"OK, I'm tired and sore and probably need to take some pain meds and go to sleep." Rose sighed. "I just hate worrying you, so much."

"I don't mind and if you don't want to worry me, next time you turn off your phone give me a heads up."

"Yes. Mom." Rose joked.

Sam had sat down on her bed by this point, picked up a pillow and threw it at her best friend. The two friends laughed. It had been a long day for both of them but while Rose was tired; Sam was antsy.

It was then that Sam's phone buzzed.

She looked at saw it was a text from Heath.

Heath: Hey, are you and Rose going to the ice cream social at the rec center?
Sam: Not sure. Hold on.

Sam looked towards Rose. "The ice cream social at the rec center. You up for going?"

Rose shook her head. "No. But you should go; if you want."

Sam didn't say anything for a moment. "Are you sure?"

"Yes. Once I take those pills I'll be asleep in about 15 minutes. What are you going to do instead, watch me sleep?" She smiled at Sam. "Go . Just bring me back some ice cream. I'll eat it tomorrow."

They had a small dorm refrigeratord with a very small freezer but it would hold a cup of ice cream.

"OK. Chocolate right?"

"Definetly, Chocolate."

Rose thought for a moment then said. "You can tell Heath what happened. If you want."

"Are you sure?" Sam was a little surprised by what Rose had said.

"Yeah, I still don't want everyone to know but we've been friends with him for over a year now and it might be better if a few more people know."

Sam nodded.

Sam got her things together to take a quick shower and get ready, after texting Heath telling him she was going to be there.

Rose got ready for bed, took her pills and by the time Sam got back to the room Rose was already asleep. Sam got dressed, ready and headed out the door.

When she got to the hallway she spotted Dawn. "Hey, are you going to the ice cream thing at the rec center?"

"I wasn't sure," Dawn responded. "Is that where you're going?"

"Yes. You should come. It'll be fun."

Dawn nodded. "Ok, if you can give me just a minute." She went back into her room for a minute came back out and said "Ready. Isn't Rose coming?"

Sam shook her head. "She wasn't feeling up to it." And left it at that.

The two girls made their way towards the rec center.
