Fancy Meeting You
Justin was really getting into his fashion assignment in Home Economics when the bell rang. He sighed as he really wanted to finish it before class ended. He then put it in his bag to finish later on before he said farewell to the other fashionistas in the class. Justin was becoming very popular with the girls since he was charming and good looking. Sadly they were clueless that he was gay since he was not donning a straight rainbow badge on his chest. Justin didn't mind if others knew his preference but he was not one to advertise it either. After he was packed he made his way to PE and barely made it in time to change clothes. Jack was already in the gym when he arrived and didn't have a chance to greet him.
After everyone arrived in the gym the coaches took roll call and then told the students what they had planned for them. The football group headed off to the field to work out and the leftovers were told to run the track. So after they did their stretches Justin made his way outside with the others. Granted he was not an athlete but he did like to stay in shape since he liked to look good. He wanted to talk to Jack but he missed his opportunity since Jack was already running when he arrived at the track. Justin smirked since Jack looked stressed before he booked it on the track.
The students noticed as Jack blew past everyone on the track. Most of the students in general gym class were walking and those that were running were closer to jogging. Jack though was fast.
Kyle slowed down a little which separated him slightly from the rest of the group he had started with; with Heath, Dawn, Zander and April. Not too much and he was in good enough shape certainly to keep up with them but he was trying to see who else was on the track.
Justin jogged at his own pace as he noticed Jack running fast. He figured he could chat him up after class if possible. Jack probably needed his alone time. So Justin began humming a tune in his head as he jogged along the track. He had no idea he was beginning to sing to himself.
"La la la la la la la la la
La la la la la la la
La la la la la la la la la
La la la la la la la
When you're feelin'
Sad and low
We will take you
Where you gotta go
Smilin' and dancin'
Everything is free
All you need is
Positivity
Colours of the world
Spice up your life
Every boy and every girl
Spice up your life
People of the world
Spice up your life
Ah
Slam it to the left
If you're having a good time
Shake it to the right
If you know that you feel fine
Chicas to the front
Ha ha go round
Slam it to the left
If you're having a good time
Shake it to the right
If you know that you feel fine
Chicas to the front
Hi Ci Ya
Hold tight"
Kyle noticed Justin coming closer and heard him singing. Spice Girls?. It wasn't too often he heard that. Less often he heard a guy singing it. He picked up his pace a little getting closer to Justin before saying. "Spice Girls, huh? Are you a fan or just a fan of that song?"
Justin noticed Kyle nearby as his concentration was broken. He smirked since Kyle actually knew who the Spice Girls were and replied, "Not a hard core fan but some of their songs are catchy. Are you into them?"
"Same as you. Some of their music is really good."
Justin smirked as he looked at Kyle who came off as charming and replied, "Oh, I'm Justin by the way. And you are?"
"Kyle." It wasn't lost on him that this attractive guy was singing Spice Girls. Maybe, his instincts would turn out to be right on this one. "It's nice to meet you."
Justin listened to Kyle say his name and wondered if he too played for the other team. He thought he saw Kyle hanging out with the same group of Ashley. Perhaps lady luck was on his side after befriending Jack. Then he decided to take a chance and continue the conversation as he asked, "Oh my roomy told me they are planning a beach party. Are you planning on going?"
"Yes. " Kyle was getting a good feeling about this but he was still cautious considering what had happened to him in the past. "It sounds like fun. Were you planning on going?"
Justin nodded and replied, "Of course since my roomy's girlfriend and company were the ones who came up with the idea so it sounds like fun. I hear the girls are going for a swimsuit trip. Too bad it's exclusive to girls, I would love to give them some fashion pointers."
"Oh, you're roommates with Jack? " Kyle spoke as Jack continued to blow past everyone on the track. "I was at lunch when it was all discussed. Yeah, they had a plan to go shopping. Well, I supposed there is nothing stopping a few guys from just going on their own. I think the school wants to just keep the straight guys from going." Kyle didn’t wave a rainbow flag but he also was pretty open about the fact that he was gay. He also figured with that fashion comment it might be a safe bet.
Justin chuckled as he got the reference. Then he replied, "True but there is no way the girls parents would approve of a gay fashion council. It would be a scandal at the school. Besides its not like the girls can't send photos of themselves to their Bos. Hec I bet Ashley will send a few to Jack just to rile him up."
"True" It was kind of a shame that was the case. "I barely know Ashley but could still see her doing that. " Deciding to change subjects as he knew more about film and music than fashion. "So, where are you from?"
Justin nodded then replied, "Born in Sin City, but my folks traveled a lot. Since they are in the fashion business I have traveled a lot to places like Paris, Milan, London, Rome, Hollywood and New York. The longest I have ever been in one place was two years. Granted it's fun to see the world, it's also hard to start over all the time. This is the first time in a while that I unpacked my stuff instead of living from a box. How about you?"
"I'm from LA. My Dad is a music producer. I've traveled a few times to London, and New York with him but only for a few weeks at a time. My mom was a concert Cellist with the L.A. Symphony Orchestra." Kyle didn't know if Justin would catch on to the fact that he talked about his mom in the past tense. He might not have mentioned her but people tended to ask when he left mention of her out of the conversation.
Justin nodded before he replied, "Cool bro. So you must be into the music scene as well huh? I love going to concerts myself. My favorite one was Celine Dion a few years ago. That Deva can wail with the best of them."
"Yes. I love music well that and film making." If there was an easy way to combine the two Kyle would do it, easily. "I've seen her in concert. She is amazing. Cher was really good. I think my favorite though was seeing Elton John in concert in London or Imagine Dragons." Kyle had, possibly, met a few of the people mentioned but he wasn't into name dropping.
Justin dropped his jaw in awe. He was surprised by how much they had in common. Justin then replied, "You lucky dog you. I am so jelly. I have yet to see Elton John in concert. The timing was always bad. " Justin wiped the sweat from his forehead before he continued, "So film making huh? Like what genre?"
"I'm still deciding on genre. I like doing documentaries but I also like drama. I'd like to break the romance genre out of the rut it's in. " It seemed like if you've watched one romantic movie you've, pretty much, seen them all. Kyle thought it could do with far more diversity and interesting storylines.
Justin nodded and smirked before he replied, "Well naturally. That is the same for music and fashion as well. Right now people are re-gifting the same stuff over and over again and pretending it's new and cutting edge. However sometimes we get something that does feel unique and has great chemistry so anything is still possible when it becomes trendy."
"That's true. I think that's why so many people are just drawn to older music from the 70's and 80's because it was fresh then and they'd rather hear the original than the copies that are out now." He paused for a moment before continuing. "So, you're into fashion. Do you have designers you're partial towards?"
Justin paused in thought for a moment then replied, "Well to be honest fashion varies depending on where you live. So as I traveled I got to see the good and bad of fashion. Each designer has both good and bad ideas so I try to learn from their success and failures. Especially since what the populace wants tends to change so quickly. I like to make stuff that will last through the simple trends."
Kyle nodded. It made sense what Justin said. It was then that he heard the gym teachers whistle go off. And the teacher yell out. "Everyone finish up it's time to go in." Had gym class really gone by that quickly? He spotted the group he had started with head towards the gym. "Will you be at the cafeteria later for dinner?" Some people might go off campus but he figured the majority of people might be eating on campus during the week.
Justin nodded and replied, "Yeah I usually eat with Jack and his friends. See you there then."
"See you, later." Kyle moved off the track, catching up with the group he had started with before they headed to the locker rooms to get cleaned up and changed.
