I recently rebooted the Story Forge (which you should totally check out). However comments in the last post on the Community Platform from Melek and Locke got me thinking. Currently, Forge rounds work on the basis of users submitting a single post based on a single prompt.
I like the concept and I've always been really impressed with the posts that people have come up with. But how about if we stretched that out, changed it slightly.
Rather than have users submit individual posts on self contained ideas based on the prompt, we open that up to everyone posting in a shared universe based on a prompt. For two weeks, or so, everyone writes characters and furthers the storyline of one universe based on a prompt or someone's turn to make a universe. Then after that two weeks, a 'best in show' winner is given an award and another universe is created with entirely new characters and everything. So think of it like miniaturising a normal OW game to just a few weeks before refreshing it entirely.
Do you think that would work? Obviously, we can spitball some ideas and decide how and who designs each round's universe. Should we host a trial here or on Story Forge? Crucially, would anyone be interested?
