Game Update :
Things are heating up in the Dark City with the Red Crew planting a bomb at the main station leading to the distant Falgesium mines and launching their first workers revolt outside the factories of the quite recently deceased Councillor Corbert.
Stella Corbet the widow and murderer of the dead Councillor appears to have gotten away with the crime thanks to a conveniently timed earth quake and the swift intervention of her admirer the head inquisitor Edward Hanton.
Meanwhile there are plans afoot to extend the outer wall of the city into the deadly dark lands surrounding it. Could this be a ruse to increase the city militia allowing the already oppressive regime to extend its reach further over Dusk.
The Red Crew are not the only group concerned with the dark designs of the City masters. The Rising Star continues to look on and gather information that will one day help them bring the city to its knees. Emily Roezell sits at the heart of their plans but could the brash attentions of Highholm play boy Tate Montclaire bring her years of work crashing into ruins.
New Members : Welcome EmiRose to the game who has created Roxy her mechanic with attitude. She is currently drinking Lina Kellgorian under the table in the Crazy Cog.
The World of Maelstrom :
So far we are developing the game along the lines of dark steampunk with mature themes. It is really coming to life as the various characters add their flavour to the world and I am always quite excited when I see a new post is up as the standard of writing is quite high making each scene an enjoyable read in its own right. It is great to see some of the players starting to communicate behind the scenes and starting to build their own subplots.
As usual with these posts I encourage feedback and involvement from both players and the wider community if you have an interest. This time round I am particularly interested in fleshing out the following aspects of the Maelstrom world:
Music : What should music look and sound like in Maelstrom, would there be concerts, what would the instruments be?
Entertainment : I have already mentioned dog fights in the game, what else could be there to keep the crowds subdued.. boxing? cage fighting? we have taverns, brothels and art museums but should there be theatres, etc etc
Religion : We have a few characters dabbling here and I have mentioned previously my preference for a lovecraftian inspired religious structure. i.e. dark and dangerous cults worshipping dark and dangerous gods. What could this look like?
