Hello fellow Platformers,
As you know, the Ongoing Worlds Community Platform does not currently have much in the way of rules, and for the most part, that has been fine, however, I have seen a few behaviors as of late that I find troubling that I would like you guys to consider and address if necessary.
In the interest of not discouraging people from posting their questions, ideas, and discussion topics here on the Platform, I am pleading that you guys please be considerate with the comments you make in the Disqus chat and refrain from making sarcastic or irrelevant comments to the topic of the post. The comments may seem innocent and fun, but if there is one thing that you can count on regarding the internet, it is that someone will misunderstand what you write. The one exception to this rule will be posts written by myself, Largehobbit, Esimed, and Winteroak, because if we dish it, we should be able to receive it.
The other thing that I would ask of you guys is to consider the timing of when you post your ideas and questions. I think we can agree that there is not a lot of activity on the Ongoing Worlds Community Platform at the moment. As such, when someone does post something, it can ideally enjoy high visibility in the top spot for quite a while. That said, I've had it happen to me quite a number of times that, after a period of 3+ days of no posts, I will post something only for at least one other person to post something over mine within the hour. I know this is a coincidence, but I'd really encourage you guys to ask yourself when, upon creating something that you would like to post on the OWCP and then noticing that someone else has posted recently, "Do I need to post this right now, or can it wait a day?". Chances are, it can wait, and if you do choose to wait, you will increase the visibility of both the other person's post and your post. However, if a spike in activity does occur and you find yourself becoming impatient, I'd ask you to try to wait at least six hours before posting on top of somebody else.
If there are other general behaviors that you guys have seen on the OWCP that irritate you that you would like me to add to this post, let me know in the comments below. If you have problems with a particular member, you can email me those concerns, and I can send the offending member an email with a rebuke if necessary.
