Keeping the Punk in Steampunk is something we are passionate about in Maelstrom. Our dystopian society is filled with factions and cults all working to bring down the system. Frankly its a wonder there is any system left. Working against the oppressive regime of Dusk are two major revolutionary groups the Red Crew and The Rising Star.

The Rising Star is a well established underground movement with roots in the deep dark history of the city and its seedy politics. Here we have spies and double agents, illicit information and political espionage at the highest levels of society. Its Steampunk James Bond and when they really need to get their hands dirty, well there are those handy little cults and splinter groups all over the city who are always happy to slaughter a few money grubbers for a good cause.

The Red Crew are the new kids on the block. This is a grass roots movement fueled by the desire for equality and universal suffrage. This a movement of the working classes, the proletariat rising up to throw off the oppressive yolk of the rich and ignorant. They will bring the city to its knees, even if the price they must pay is the lifeblood of its people. It is the greater good that counts after all. Isn't it?
