OOC - Shared Universe

Hi everyone, what's up? For some time now, I wanted to come up with a way to explain the nature of having many players writing definitive posts that drive the overall story forward, and I think I have a rather successful comparison, so please hear me out on this:

To be very honest with you all, I have a problem; I tend to unintentionally Godmod characters that I do not own, and it's a bad thing..is it, though? Please, bare with me.
Even if you created a game, if other players have joined it, then it's no longer just your game! ; a character that you have created is not just your own once you released it; sure, you know what he/she really is like but isn't that what your character page is for? Teaching others to know your characters almost as well as you do?

What I'm saying may sound absolutely bananas to you but this is where the comparison I was talking about comes in; the MARVEL Cinematic Universe. It's the perfect example for what I'm trying to say here, so before anyone rage comments, keep readin'!

"There was an idea. The idea was to bring together a group of remarkable people, see if they could become something more. See if they could work together when we needed them to to fight the battles we never could.", said Nick Fury; and I think I just understood it's meaning.

2008, the first Iron-Man movie is released. You could say that the director of that movie was the moderator of the game that started the whole thing, and he brought his characters in for an introduction post; Tony Stark being his own character, let's say.

Later that same year, The Incredible Hulk went out to cinema, and something unbelievable happened; after the end credits, Tony Stark made an appearance and even spoke up a few lines. The director of the Incredible Hulk was a player that joined the game that Iron Man's director created, and he included one of his characters and interpreted him as best he could to have him join HIS side of the story...interesting.

I strongly believe that a post should reflect the writer's thoughts, feelings, and hopes for everything - including the atmosphere, the way the story flows, and yes; even the characters. I'm not saying a member should be allowed to destroy another player's character/s whole personality with stupid posts that makes an effort to put light on his own character/s; I do think, however, that a member should be allowed to use other characters that he does not own in an appropriate manner in order to push the story forward and even shed some new light on characters so that things could stay refreshing.

I do know and realize that a character is the property of it's creator; but I also realize that letting someone else interpret it to a certain degree with consideration to it's personality and past actions and backstory, would only do good to it and make it more relatable and less one-sided. To make an example, I actually much preferred the way Thor behaved in the movie Thor Ragnarok than the way he acted on the avengers, since a whole new face of his personality shone; and it was absolutely a blast to watch.

And when such a grand collaboration between members of a game occurs, it opens up doors to make unbelievably vast and explosively interesting joint posts; like the Avengers movies ;)

Hope I managed to explain my point of view correctly, for I strongly believe that it's the only way to keep a decent story going and retaining interest; Trust.
