Friend among Liars
-Ragodast, 1 DSTR-
Isai was studying Elthien's mask as he awaited her response to his accusation. He did not frequently challenge people's trustworthiness, what with his being a mere human in a kingdom filled with numerous magical creatures, but he was also not one to bend over and take bull shit willingly. Wrenching his eyes from Elthien to the man who stepped forward with a bag of coin. Ignoring his attempt at formality by bowing to his, Isai kept his eyes on the coin purse with an expression of disgust. He was no stranger to bribery, for there were many people who failed to make their payments and tried to buy off his blind eye, but this was a new brand entirely. Stepping up blatantly to his face when anyone from the Ragodast guard could step through that door, it could only be described as foolish.
Despite his growing disdain for the man and woman accompanying Elthien, he still listened to the lies that they were trying to pour on him like a scented oil. It didn't hurt to stand silently, allowing people to string up their own rope, step through it, and tie it so that all you had to do was kick the stool out. Seeing 'Ikan' smile as if it would help disguise the shit that spilled from his lips as fertile soil for the growth of a relationship, Isai turned his eyes to Auriel, his patience with this game of charades coming to a rather abrupt end. Pursing his lips and narrowing his eyes as he glared into the openings of his associates helmet, he mentally challenged her to try and lay more out before him as an insult and see what would happen next.
As if she too could see the issues that were rising up before her, Isai relaxed his annoyed expression when Auriel began to speak. He had noticed her nod from before and assumed it meant she would be telling him about the lost operative, but he was not annoyed further by her expression of honesty. Turning a critical eye on the others, he spoke up as she finished, "Yes, I will be able to arrange a time to meet with you, Auriel, but I have no intention of meeting with these two. I will write up the documents as you ask with my usual charge, but do not bring them around me again."
Turning his head slightly over his shoulder as Barble continued to hum dutifully, Isai smirked as he looked back over at Auriel, a slight smile twinkling in his dark eyes, "But, as a gracious friend and colleague, I cannot tell you to keep your associates out of my way. Just...have them hold their tongue better. His ears are not the only ones here and a proclamation of your situation regarding your rightful business paperwork is a much higher offense then I believe Mr. Jack understands."
