Introductions Are In Order
Seeing the woman smile slightly, almost like a sly smile that a thief gives when they are confident that they have successfully stolen something and will be getting away with it. Feeling his lips tug up at the corner as he watched her lips, he had completed his scan of the area and his eyes were now free to return to her form. Seeing her eyes dancing over his form, he felt self-conscious for a second and glanced over his frame to make sure there was nothing out of place or out of the ordinary. It was then that the weight of his current action hit him. It was the first time in quite some time that he had actually felt an inkling of self-consciousness and actually gave into it rather than drilling it away with physical activity. What was happening to him? Was the attention this woman was giving him weakening him in ways that he as a fighting man could not afford? Was she pulling his attention from what was important and instead directing it towards her? Was she infecting his thoughts and awakening an inner animal in him that could actually aid in reacting to a fight? Yes.
Grinning as he looked down at the meat before picking it up, he was happy to see that she was humored by his little game with the food. He had been curious of how she would react to the joke, and he could not say that he was disappointed. Hearing her giggle was an absolute delight to hear, as if it was a part of the construction of his ear that had been missing all his life, but now that he heard it, his ears were whole and in a state of euphoria. Looking up at her as he was eating, he studied her face for any hidden emotions or motives he had not seen when inviting her into their clearing. Simon was in no way a overly inquisitive man, preferring the straight forward processes of the battlefield over the cloak and dagger work of spies. He could spend an entire day lopping bloody body parts off of enemies without a single adverse reaction, but trying to determine a person's trustworthiness never ended well. He either assumed they were and was reprimanded or he assumed they weren't and cost himself an experience.
Finishing the piece of meat he had begun to eat, he looked down at the remaining piece, his eyes lingering over the still dripping grease as he felt a grab of hunger in his stomach. He was going to leave it for the woman, but he was going to have to find something to take his mind off the meat if he wasn't going to eat it. As if she could read his mind and knew just what his body desired, she shifted towards him slightly before looking up at him with a smile. Feeling their gaze interlock, he delved into the beauty of the golden hue before listening to her words. Offering a smile of his own, he reached a hand out to take hers before gently raising her knuckles to his lips as he spoke, "My name is S-Simon. What is your name?" He silently cursed himself as he stuttered over his title, refusing to allow his mouth to form the rest of the word 'Sir' as it was so programmed to do in Verden. It would command respect back home, but revealing his identity could very easily get him killed in Dalen.
Looking down at the patch of grass between their thighs, he concentrated on getting a better handle over his tongue. This mission was not one that he was particularly comfortable with, but his King had tasked him to complete it, and so he would to the best of his ability. That meant keeping his identity hidden and gaining access to parts of Dalen that no Knight of Verden had ever gained access. Glancing up to see her smile drop, his brows furrowed as he looked up in an attempt to see what might have upset her when her words hit his ear. Looking down at the meat, he nibbled on the inside of his lip before speaking, "No, you eat it. By the time she wakes up, it will be cold and I could not serve her cold food. Besides, this is my portion, so she will not be missing any." He neglected to mention how the provisions had been packed for him alone, and how since he rescued Katya, he would have to find a way to supplement the increase of consumption regarding his stash.
