The heat from the burning wood, that breathed passion into the night air, brought a direct warmth to the trail of water down her chest. The dancing flames taunted her, begging her to come closer. The bread that sat before her still held some heat from sitting over the fire, but not nearly enough to keep her satisfied. There was a different hunger dwelling in her core. In most cases, it was easy to move past the temptations that handsome men brought about- except she desired this man unlike most. It could have been the fire that brought on this undiminishing craving, or the fact that the man had yet to allow his true nature take control.
At the point of eye contact, she gazed into his gray eyes and saw a glint of something she had yet seen in any man. A purity of the soul? Her head cocked sideways as she peered into his very being; pulling away at the same moment he did, a light gasp escaped her lips while she eyed the forest floor in front her. Celestia was looking for an out to this deal that she had recently made with Him. Reasons as to why she should not attempt to take his life flooded her brain, all while she scanned the ground trying to make peace with the inner turmoil.
Resistere. A husky growl from within pushed the dominating voice in her head back, caging Him in the depths of her mind. "You are welcome, but I do not feel as if thanks are truly in order. You look famished and ready to die of thirst, I could not simply ignore your peril and send you on your way." Looking over the fire at him, she raised her brow and smirked. “You very well could have. Who knows, maybe,” you should have. A pause lingered for two heartbeats before she cleared her throat and returned her gaze to the flames- ending her train of thought.
Looking down at the meat in front of her, she took a breath and grabbed one of the pieces with shaky hands. The meat was still steaming, and most would have flinched at the hot contact to flesh, but she welcomed it. The meat was tender enough to tear apart with her nails, and she placed a piece on her tongue. Sucking the remains off her thumb and pointer finger, she looked down at the second piece. Raising her eyes to meet his, she pointed down to it. “Are you going to join me? Or do you like your meat cold?”
Looking down at the bag sitting at her right, she angled her body to the left while pushing the stone that way as well. The space allowed him to keep a safe distance from her bag, while also being relatively close to her. Eyeing the tent with curiosity, she sat up straighter a little bit and tore off another piece. Her eyes ventured back to the tedious process of food consumption. "I didn't know soldiers were allowed to marry." The statement was broad, but could cause suspicion. It was a careless comment, made in hopes to reduce her desire for the stranger.
