Apologetic
Simon realized how terrifying it must have been for the woman when she started speaking, what with him standing before her with a deadly weapon situated in a clearly offensive grip. Putting the handle of the axe back in his belt, he held his hands out with the palms pointed mostly at the ground and slightly towards her. Looking around them to make sure this was not a ruse to make him drop his guard only to be attacked by an unseen assailant, he then turned his eyes back to her. She looked to be in particularly bad shape, her clothes worn and discolored by nature. Looking towards the bag she had been clutching, he narrowed his eyes before relaxing his hands down by his sides and standing up straighter.
Glancing over his shoulder towards the clearing he had come from, he gestured towards it before speaking, "Are you in need of food or drink? I don't have much to give, but if you are in need, I can try." Turning his shoulders towards the clearing, he nodded his head towards it before continuing, "Do not worry yourself, no harm will come to you, whether you decide to come or not." Turning his back on her, he kept his ears trained for her footsteps as he began walking back through the underbrush and into the clearing.
Glancing over at the tent where Katya was sleeping, he debated on rousing her but instead decided against it. She needed the rest, and he was not particularly worried about the woman. If he could not fend someone who weighed barely half his weight off, then he would voluntarily revoke his status as a Knight of Verden. Moving to the opposite side of the burnt out fire, he sat down facing the direction of the road to greet the woman if she followed.
