So the Commander knew Ceriden was capable of telepathy. If she could indeed overhear telepathic conversations, she may have listened in on his conversation with Gareth, although she didn't seem to suspect that he was a vampire. Either way, if she suspected he was capable of telepathy, there was no point in hiding it. Ceriden telepathically replied, "She did not inform me that she was a foreigner, although I won't deny that I suspected it. That said, I am certainly not harboring her, nor do I believe she is here illegally. Slaves are one of Dalen's biggest exports, as I'm sure you know, so I don't see anything wrong with her coming here and purchasing one. And if this woman with more money than brains is willing to pay me to help her manage her slave, I'm not going to complain."
