The Calm Before

"Here's how this is going to go down. I'm going to pay for two rooms, that way, at least one may be close to the Elf's room. If the Inn Keeper or that bodyguard of hers tries anything funny, we're going to take this place by force. The apprehension of this criminal is worth far more than the respect, or, Gods forbid, the lives of a measly Innkeeper and her guard. If I signal you or if that brute of a man so much as breaths on me, open fire."
“Oh, gladly!” Kalena said, grinning and grabbing her trusty yew longbow. She had not expected Oruvand to take such a direct approach, and could not help but admire his sheer boldness and doggedness at not letting anything stand in the way between him and his bounty.
Killing the Madam and her pet gorilla would be oh such a pleasure too, she thought, but there was a chance the elf might escape out a window upon hearing the Inn being forcibly stormed. Therefore it was essential to neutralize all opposition they met cleanly and quietly. She stretched her numb arm and shoulder, and then notched a bodkin pointed armour-piercing arrow to her bowstring as she moved into position to cover the bounty hunter.
Kalena watched Oruvand approach the counter, but then was almost distracted from her task by the sight of Simon. Great Elephants, what a fine looking man! Was he one of the Madam's employees? If so, she imagined him a very popular one with the clientele.

The loud voices were clear to just about all in the inn even without listening to the door. Jack now knew the voice of the dark elf who was chasing him. He rolled his eyes up as he knew the man must have been at the end of his rope to try to bribe his way in after his girlfriend threatened to burn the place down. He was amused by how desperate they were to kill him over a miscommunication. He found the people of Dalen to be blood thirsty jack@sses with no honor or humanity since they put the life of slavers over innocent people. They just blindly decided he needed to die and didn't care why. Not one has even tried to talk to him or negotiated. As he peeked out the window he could see the archer in the fancy outfit with her bow notched and ready to fire. He found it sad a woman could be a piece of crap slaver along side her dark elf boyfriend who was no different.

LeLu: Jack I'm scared.

Jack: Patience LeLu. Let the man put his foot into his own mouth first. I'm willing to be his outburst will attract the wrong kind of attention. In the meantime I will take a few precautions.

Jack then opened his backpack and pulled out a few pepper smoke bombs. They were modified eggshells with a powder that would react when they combined with the smaller eggshell inside containing a reacting powder. It had a ten foot diameter and the ghost pepper dust would burn the eyes and throat on contacts.

If his hunters managed to get to his room they would have a very bad day.

Jack instructed LeLu to get into the large Gunny sack so he could carry her out and avoid the pepper dust since she was also vulnerable to it. Jack planned to use a wind barrier to move through it unharmed. He had no intention of getting killed by these fanatics. He used his body manipulation magic to grow a wild beard and make his hair longer to look a very shaggy as it almost covered his face.

He picked up the gunny sack with LeLu inside and sat it on the bed with him sitting next to her as she was curled up in a ball. He held his eggs as he waited it out.

Jack: Sorry LeLu. I know you are uncomfortable but please bear with it a bit longer. I'll get us out of here. Problem is I don't know which way I came from now since I don't know the area. I need a map and I need to know where we are.

LeLu: It's okay Jack. Since I lost everything, I can't complain anymore. I won't hold it against you if you leave me behind.

Jack: Not happening.

It was awkwardly silent as they waited to see what was going to happen.
