Driving Miss Daisy crazy
Who: Johnny B. Goode
Where: Examination room
When: During last post.
It had been a while since Johnny had flown something as large as the
Blue Dwarf. He certainly prefers to fly the larger ships, but can fly
anything. He usually doesn't get to pilot the Blue Dwarf, as Jay gets
to do that, but he is... unavailable at the moment.
That was probably why they wanted to him to give some new pilots some
basic training.
"Evans."
"Here."
"Roberts."
"Here."
"O'Riley."
"Whaddya want?"
Johnny barely raised an eyebrow as he called the last name, "Cox."
"Here."
"Okay, I've just received papers regarding the extent of your piloting
knowledge. I tink we better start from the start."
Johnny had Holly display various diagrams of the engines and cockpit
of a starbug.
"Okay, this here is the ignition, this is the seat, and here are the
controls." Johnny pointed out the information on all four consoles in
the starbug. He noticed that Shane O'Riley was paying little
attention. He read his record. Shane was JMC's new representative
aboard the Blue Dwarf, and the job specs state that he needs to have
passed the basic piloting test.
Johnny was glad that he was only teaching these guys basic piloting,
and not combat stuff. O'Riley probably had the makings of a good
fighter pilot, but Johnny was glad he didn't have to teach him once he
passed the basic test.
