Night shift:part 1
John Baily,Guard
Onboard Blue dwarf
11.00pm
John was on the night shift.He absolutely detested the night
shift,but that was mainly because he didn't have anyone to push
around or argue with,and those were the two things he enjoyed more
than anything else.John sighed heavily and glanced at his watch.11
o'clock exactly,the other guy should have been here by now.What was
his name...Craig,that was it.He never had liked that Craig.Always
partying willy nilly all night and then turning up late.John
wondered
how he put up with it all,being a guard was,in his opinion,the,the
most important job on the entire ship.He liked tht idea."Yes",he
thought to himself,"I'm probably the most important member of staff
on the whole of blue dwarf.He toyed with that notion for a few
minutes before looking again at his watch.It was almost ten past!It
was then he decided he wasn't going to wait any longer for that
idiot,and turned to leave.For a minute he did think about the
massive responsibility he carried,but then again,he was really tired
and he'd nether really cared about the crew anyway.As he walked down
the long,dark corridor,John began to notice that it was eerily
quiet.Too quiet.At first he didn't really take much notice of the
lack of any sound,but as he made his way along,it became more and
more weird."What the hell is going on?",he wondered.Finally,after
what had seemed like hours but had only been a few minutes,the
terrible silence was finally broken.John heard a noise and instantly
jumped round,startled.Something was coming towards him,very
fast.John was just about to attack it when he realised it was just
one of those stupid skutters.He kicked it anyway,he hated those
things.This one was acting strangely,though.It looked terrified and
kept hitting him to get his attention,making a terrible screaming
sound.John kicked it another couple of times,he was really getting
annoyed now.And then,John heard another sound witch made both him
and the skutter freeze solid.Something far more frightining was
approaching much faster,something which made John Baily mor scared
than he had been in his entire life.It let out a long,loud,roar.
