"Squidmonkey!"

When: As Jay fires at the Gelf ship

"Jay listen to yourself! This isn't you talking!! It's...THEM!
You're acting like them!"
"And what's so bad about that eh?!" Jay replied, still on a course
to engage the gelfs, who's primative sesnor equipment hadn't et
picked up the approaching Starbug, Jack was thankful that it was
still out of range. "We could ALL learn something from the Hive" Jay
continued "For one thing they're collective mentality means they've
never even HEARD of INSUBORDINATION...unlike some security crew I
could mention..."
"Jay......" began Jack, but it was too late, Jay...had opened
fire....

Seymour looked out of the cockpit window at the GELF ship as the
weapons fire arced through space towards it. He considered pulling
Jay away from the weapons control panel but the Hymenoptera next to
him snarled.
Jay felt the logic in what he was doing, and had no remorse at all.
He was completely in control of his own actions, and knew the
Hymenoptera weren't controlling him at all. Although he had lately
become far more open to their opinions on life.
The shots missed. Every laser blast from the Starbug streaked
straight past the bow of the approaching ship, causing the pilot to
slam the small ship into reverse thrust immediately.
Jay turned around and saw the shocked looks of everyone in the
shuttle.
"What? You thought I was going to destroy it? I'm not some kind of
monster!"
Seymour raised an eyebrow and wondered what Jay would have done if
him, Jack, CK, and Melissa had not been around.
The panicking voice of the pilot came through the radio and Jay
turned it off. "Lets dock with him and just ask him some questions."
The two ships docked together and everyone waited around a docking
port to open. As the bulky metal door slid open it revealed the
pilot of the other ship, alone.
Melissa gasped as she saw him. Seymour and Jack's eyes bulged.
The Gelf walked out and immediately started shouting at them. "What
is the meaning of this? You fire at me then force me to dock! I…"
The gelf was a bizarre combination of part chimp and part octopus.
He had a brown hairy body and a fleshy squid on his head. He looked
like an extra from `planet of the Apes' who'd had a slight accident
with his seafood.
"…And what the frell are you all gawping at? Have you never seen a
Squidmonkey before?"
Everyone's eyes bulged apart from Jay who was in the other room.
Seymour shook his head. "No I'm afraid not, we're new to this area
of space…"
"Ahh well, not many people have anyway. I think I'm the only one!"
Said the Squidmonkey.
"Where are you from?" Asked Jack, looking at the creature's squidgy
head and wondering how something like that had evolved.
The Squidmonkey sighed as if he'd told the story a million
times. "There's a planet not far from here where a race of aliens
decided it would be funny to experiment with the DNA of many
species. It resulted in an entire planet of people like me, a wide
mix of many genetic sequences from across the galaxy."
Seymour raised an eyebrow.
This was when Jay walked in with his Hymenoptera bodyguards.
The Squidmonkey squealed in shock and backed himself up against the
rear wall. "YOU HAVE A HYMENOPTERA OPBOARD?!!"
Jay walked straight up to the stranger. "Yes, we're allies." He
said, then grabbed the GELF by the tentacles (NOT testacles!) and
dragged him into the Starbug's midsection where he threw him down on
a chair.
"RIGHT! Now we need some answers you genetic FREAK!!" Jay stared
menacingly at the GELF.
"No please don't hurt me… I never meant to offend the Creators!"
Jay was ready to slap the creature when Jack held him back. "Wait!
Let him speak, what did he mean about the creators?"
The Squidmonkey slobbered in fright. "The creators… The Hymenoptera
are our creators, they experimented with many genetic forms."
Jay slapped him again and he shrieked some more from under the
squiddy tentacles.
"They were trying to breed a more perfect warrior… instead they got
me! And many others on the planet."
Jay was ready to slap him again, but Jack stopped him.
"I guess the Hymenoptera aren't proud of their mistakes." Said
Seymour.
The Squid gave them a sly look. "Although I did hear that some of
the Hymenoptera's `failures' have risen up against them…"
He got another slap, not from Jay this time but from a Hymenoptera
beetle.
"What do you know about them?" Asked Jay through gritted teeth.
The squidmonkey remained quiet.
Seymour turned to him. "Please, if you know anything tell us. They
have a large weapon and are threatening to destroy Earth. All
because we're working with these…" He pointed to the Hymenoptera.
"We don't have the force to fight them on our own!" Said Jay
defending the Hymenoptera.
"We wouldn't have to if they hadn't got us into it!" Said Seymour.
"They need our help!" Said Jay.
"Alright alright! Lets not start this argument again!" Said Jack,
getting between the two.
They all turned to the bizarre monkey-squid hybrid. "I don't know
anything. But I'm glad someone finally stood up to the Hymenoptera!"
He said.
Seymour grinned and Jay scowled.
They let the gelf go and continued on their way.
