Attack of the UMF's

Who: Amber, Jack, Idwal, Keats
Where: Unorthorized Blue Midget and Mining Shuttle
When: Before the BD was crased into, but after the Endymion crashed

"call up that ship, ask what
happened" he said, reaching for the controls, but he couldn't quite
reach them from his seat, not wanting to undo the seatbelt for fears
of Ambers reckless flying.

They hadn't been in the air (isn't it supposed to be a vacum in
space?) for long a total of about half an hour since the Endymion
exploded in mid-atmosphere and the flaming shell hit the side of the
Bug Mound. Somewhere down on the plannet surface Jay was being
released by the Hairy Spider and Chris, CK, Wowbagger and MK6 were
being attacked by several black and green humanoids. A ghostly
apperition appeared on the scanners.
"Hey Jack, you reading this as well?" Amber asked, slowing the
Midget from it's hell-bent pace. Looking at the scanner screens Jack
replied.
"Yea, its like it's phasing out of existance.... It's huge.... It's
also on a..."
"Collision course!" The both realised at the same time.
"Evasive manouvers!" Amber yelled, pulling the Midget up and
slaming the joystick to the left. "It's no good, its too big to
avoid. We are gonna crash. Brace for impact, we should only scrape
its hull if we are lucky." Amber said holding onto the joystick and
false hope. Pulling as hard as she could to try to get the tiny craft
to only glanced off the hull of the gargantuan ghost ship. She knew
that they were going to hit it head on. Just at the point of impact,
Amber closed her eyes and offered up silent prayers to whoever was
listening and mumbled "See you soon John." The Ship passed through
the midget and headed towards the Mining craft, also passing through
that.
"Are we alive?" Jack said after what seemed like an ice age.
"I think so..." Amber said and franticly ran systems checks to see
if everything was ok. "All systems read normal. It ran straight
through us...." She said, looking on the readouts as the Ship passed
through BD as well.

Two decks below them the alien that the passing craft had deposited
within them began to move
A dull thud echoed up to the flight deck
"What was that? asked Keats
"Dunno" shrugged Idwal
Little did they know it was the sound of lady luck falling off their
shoulders

Amber tapped out the frequencies and contacted the mining craft.
"JMC Mining Vessel this is Blue Midget 13 come in please." Jack
silently cursed as he realised that 13 was a traditionally unlcky
number. "JMC Mining Vessel this is Blue Midget 13 are you reading me?
This is Ensign Amber Cleaveage-FeBuggure requesting a transmition"
She asked again. There was a thunk from the mid-section of the
midget. Amber glanced at Jack who in turn glanced behind him. The
comms crackled into life.
"This is Mining Engineer Idwal Everrett. Did you just experiance
that as well? What happened?...." the transmition was cut out in a
fizzle of static as both shuttles comms were interupted by a large
sharp pointy stinger. Amber's heart sank as he only read out the one
name. John wasn't onboard the other ship, which meant he had gone
down with The Endymion.
"Bigger fish to fry!" Jack said unbuckling the harness and
stumbling towards the weapons rack. He had been thinking the same
thing, but had noticed the humanoid shape sooner than Amber had.
"Now you're one Ugly MoFo." Amber said looking over the black and
green monstrocity.
