Looking rather miffed, the giant hamster yells indignantly "Hey! I can understand people not liking Alice in wonderland, I don't care for it myself. But I happen to like that book, Animal Farm! It's one of the few books where animals like me get to talk. Your probably very annoyed with 'Boxer the horse' too, aren't you?!? And people call me wierd... Humans, Sheesh!"
To begin with I too, liked the book, but now... I am sick to death with the way I have to spend two hours worth of English Lit exams, plus countless hours of revision learning about the Russian Revolution from an alegory (hey...english lessons DO work...) about a group of animals who set up thier own government
The worst thing about the entire course on animal farm for me was the newer version of video they made us watch...they lip sinched the animals...it looked terribly tacky... (The cartoon was fine...)
You try studying it for three and a half months for three hours every week, picking out every bloody quotation and characterisation (god, another english word!) and you'll soon get tired of ANY book
Especially Animal Farm. Oh, and now that I have memorised the book off by heart (due to the inane number of times I have had to read the damm thing) I will burn the thing after my english lit exam in May...
