Zack looked up at the uber-scutter. "Oh, hi there, Elwood. How's your day
been? Plumbing's right in there." He pointed to the door to the electrical
room.
Elwood considered describing his day up to that point, and would probably
have even been able to enhance the tale with some of the more aromatic
sludge that he'd been wading through, but decided against it. After all,
the day was picking up. Last time he'd been anywhere near McDonald's, he'd
nearly been blown to smithereens by Penny Lloyd. "Not bad, Mr. Zack. I've
had worse."
Zack grinned. "I know what you mean."
Elwood continued on to the electrical room, then realized Zack hadn't a clue
where the plumbing was and continued on to the bathroom. Passing the
office, he nodded to Cubie, who was now seated behind the computer. "Good
day, Miss Cubie."
Cubie looked up. "Hi, Elwood. How's your day been?"
Elwood was silent.
Cubie grinned. "Look! That pilot is up for sale again! And cheap, too!"
Zack's voice floated back from the front of the building. "You're not on
eBay again, are you?"
Cubie blushed. "Uh, no Zack!"
Zack harrumphed. Cubie wasn't a very good liar at the moment. But what the
heck - they could certainly afford it. The interest alone from the amount
that Maxillus had deposited in their accounts was enough to buy the Blue
dwarf and the last three planets she'd stopped at. Compounding interest and
time travel were a powerful combination indeed.
Cubie placed a bid for one Dean Thomas, then noticed that a Dr. Charles Keto
was also up for grabs. "Oh, goody! A Dutch auction!" She bid an
exorbitant amount, pouting that the auction didn't have a 'buy-it-now'
feature. She'd gotten a great deal on a small circus that way, though the
shipping and handling had been a bit steep.
OOC: Yes, she did put a lot of zeros to the right of the one on her bid.
Don't worry, we're nice to our pets (as long as they're housebroken . . .)
