Publicity
Who: Cerebrum, Lloyd, Donover
Where: The Black Eye Bar
> Lloyd glanced a look at Cerebrum as if to say 'its' done now'.
"Splendid," said Cerebrum, getting up from under the table and
dusting himself off, while avoiding all the people running around and
screaming "Well done. I'd love to stay and chat, but I've got to get
back to the office."
He left the Black Eye Bar, dodging past seveal screaming people, and
entered back into the promenade. Cerebrum had no fear of bar fights
(and when he had forgotten to take his pills, he had no fear of
security teams with great big laser cannons), having been in several
asylums during breakouts or riots. After you had faced down lunatics
who would happily rip off your head and then eat you, a group of
people punching each other wasn't that frightening.
Later, back at the Psychiatric offices
"How many patients did you deal with while I was gone?" Cerebrum
asked as he entered.
[Two] thought the Appendix back at him.
"Only two? But I was gone for a long time. Have you been slacking
off? If there's one thing I won't stand for in my department, it's
slacking off."
[No, I haven't been slacking off. There were only two people who came
in.]
"Only two people!? This is outrageous. Don't these people realize
that their only hope for a sane life lies in receiving proper
psychiatric assistance by trained professionals?"
[Actually, I think they're worried about the trained professionals
bit.]
Cerebrum's eyes narrowed, "And just what do you mean by that?"
The Appendix, with no regard for self-preservation, continued on,
[They don't think we're competent.]
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN, THEY DON'T THINK I'M COMPETENT!?"
[Well, by the context, it means that they aren't in a state of being
where they have been given reason to believe that you're capable of
properly performing your job.]
"I KNOW THAT! WHAT I MEAN IS WHY DO THEY THINK I'M NOT COMPETENT!"
[You don't have to yell, you know, just a slight whisper and I can
pick it up.]
"I'm not yelling for your benefit, I'm yelling for mine. You do know
what this means, don't you," said Cerebrum as he calmed down.
[What's that?]
"We need to get some good publicity. An ad campaign, posters and
comercials. I'll get working on that, you get keep seeing patients."
