Apocalypse Soon
Ffion Observatory
1348 hours
James was starting to get a wee bit stressed out, Efof was rocking backwards
and forth muttering incoherantly, and Doom was yelling something about a
plague of locusts from the stars, James seemed to be the only sane person
available.
"AND LOCUSTS AS BIG AS HOUSES WILL DESCEND UPON THE LAND! FEEDING ON MAN
WOMAN AND CHILD!" Doom continued.
"How can we get off the station?" James asked.
"There's an emergency matter transporter down the corridor, it'll take us to
the surface where I can find some equipment to contact your ship," Efof
said, coming to his senses, "Your communications officer should be able to
decode it easily enough..."
"Ah," James said, sweating, "um, yeah, he should manage it..."
The three of them headed down to the matter transporter room, James looked
around in awe as they prepared to leave, "Imagine what we could learn from
your people!" he gasped, "Matter transportation, medicine, your technology
could improve our lives no end!"
"What makes you think I know how to do any of that stuff?" Efof said, "We
leave that to techy nerdy people."
The three stepped into their cubicles, there was a humming sound, and then
silence.
James stepped out of the cubicle again, "Did it work?" he asked.
Efof stepped out of his cubicle and ran over to the computer, "Odd," he
said, "Our patterns were recorded, and transmitted to the planet below. We
should be standing there right now..."
"Unless it forgot to vaporise us at this end as well," James said suddenly
panicky, "Oh god! Two mes! It would never work! All my mates would have to
send me to christmas cards, we'd have to share the pay packet between us,
every time he had girl friend I'd want to go out with her!"
"Ah ha! Found the problem," Efof said, "The dematerialisation emitters were
reversed."
"What does that do?" James asked.
Then the space station exploded.
Down the surface of Ffion, Efof, James and the Harbinger of Doom were
totally unaware of the fate of their doubles. They were aware that they were
now standing in what appeared to be an office lobby with the ceiling caved
in and giant wasp-like creatures hanging from the walls.
"Where are we?" James asked, gagging Doom who was waving his arms around
like a maniac.
"This is the central government building, where the president is kept in
stasis except in times of need."
"Why keep him in stasis, wouldn't that mean you'd have to wait years for an
election?" James asked.
"Why would we want an election, everybody loves this president?" Efof
shrugged.
The three stepped out of the building.
"Near here is the biggest theme park ever made," Efof said proudly.
They were on a street covered in rubble, six limbed bodies covered tghe
roads, and towerring wrecks lined the edges.
"It's just round this corner," Efof said, leading them round a corner to...
A crater, a big muva of a crater. With a stream of lava running along the
bottom, and wasp things covering every side.
Efof stood, his jaw dropped.
"You blew it up!" he gasped, "YOU BLEW IT UP DAMN YOU! DAMN YOU ALL TO
HELL!"
Doom smiled, "BEHOLD THE LOCUSTS OF DEATH!" he screamed.
James glared down the hole, to see a small figure crouched precariously half
way down the crater.
"He's human!" James said in amazement.
Suddenly the bugs seemed to wake up, then with a loud buzzing noise every
single one of them rose up and flew over head.
"What the hell is going on!" James screamed.
"THE APOCALYPSE!!!!!" Doom yelled cheerfully.
Efof went back to the blank look.
Steev heard the shouting, and looked up, waving and shouting, without being
heard at all.
