Frank Harris 'Observations of a security officer'
Blue Dwarf
22/09/2100
Around 8ish in the morning
Captain Cannon had given the order to follow the information Harris had traded for and went on to say when Nipels question its' reliability "I'm getting paid to search for this piece of drifting junk, as long as we're looking for it we're not stood in the dole queue!"
'Yea right'. Harris throught. What the Captain had forgotten was that they were only going to get paid once they had returned from their mission and the chances of returning at all were slim.
Harris had reviewed the information himself and some scans made of the Red Dwarf made it appeared that something had gone wrong with the Drive Plates as the background radiation aboard the ship was enough to kill most lifeforms but for the most stubborn of cockroaches.
Harris had to miss an appointment with councillor Simmons because of that damn senior staff meeting.

"Can I see the sensor readings for this area of space please?" said the Commander, being way too polite because she was so darn attractive.
Harris watched this pitiful display as events played out and Harris throught. 'Take a long cold shower Nipels.'
What the hell was he doing in the drive room? Harris throught, he rather be patrolling somewhere or at least try to relax in the ship's gardens for an hour or two. Well there was one good thing about this, where wasn't a one sheet of paperwork in sight. Harris no longer felt the urge to give the Commander a knuckle sandwich, well not yet anyway.
"ALL ENGINES FULL REVERSE, NOW!" Commander Nipels yelled.
The entire ship jolted a number of times before coming to a stop. While most of the drive room crew were throw off their feet Harris managed to stay standing by holding onto the doorframe that led into the drive room. The rest of the drive room crew rose to their feet.
"Activate forward viewscreen" Harris heard Nipels ordered.
The viewscreen came online and was filled with the sight of asteroids and with one that happened to be very large right in front of the ship.
The silence was broken when the communications officer reported. "I'm picking up a signal- its feint, but its coming from within this asteroid field."
Harris watched as Nipels ordered Kiern Loes to take out a stagbug and recon the area.
'Oh there was nothing good to come of this.' Harris throught. Fate didn't work that way for them, it just pulled one nasty trick after another on the crew of the Blue Dwarf.
