Where: Tropical gardens
When: One week ago, after Brett came out of stasis


Night had fallen by the time Jay made it back to the Reality Resort with Brett. "This way" he indicated one of the illuminated paths, meandering through the darkened tropical garden "Given the day we've just had, I reckon we'll find one or two of the others in the bar"
Gazing up, past the verdant foliage, at the wealth of stars, twinkling beyond the diamond glass domes, Brett slowly shook his head.
"This place is amazing" he murmured.
"Yeah, we lucked out with this one" Jay grinned "I've been to a few places like this in the last six hundred years, but this has got to be one of the nicest"
"Six...?" Brett glanced sharply at him "Give or take"
Jay indicated another path, leading away through the gardens "This one's quickest"
Rounding a corner, a few minutes later, they emerged out onto the darkened terracotta expanse of one of the sun terraces and threaded their way through clustered tables and chairs, towards the bar the Dwarfer's had temporarily commandeered as their headquarters.
"And here we are" Jay smiled as the doors slid open, admitting them to the tastefully lit, air conditioned interior "Oh..." his heart dropped as he spied Cass and Jamie sat opposite each other in one corner. Jamie was hunched over the table, his head in his hands.
For a moment, Jay wondered what the hell Cass had said to upset him, but his fears were quickly dispelled when Jamie pounded the table with one fist and threw his head back, bellowing with laughter.
"Do it again" he yelled "Again!"
"Hey there" noticing Jay and the Brett for the first time, Cass grinned and waved at them from across the bar.
"One more time" Jamie begged, his face aglow with laugher and drink.
Cass eyed the two men as they approached "Watch this" she balled a fist and shook it three times in the air, Jamie mirroring the action "One, two, three..."
They both simultaneously held their hands upside down, their fingers taut and stiff "Nuke!" they yelled in unison.
Jamie collapsed in hysterics.
"Nuke poisons sky, outclasses dynamite, tornado and gun" Cass intoned "Causes death, incinerates tank, helicopter, chainsaw and oh, so many others"
Perplexed, Jay shook his head "What the...?"
"Advanced rock paper scissors" Cass explained "This is the last of our telepathic link – We always draw"
"What's happened to him?" he nodded down at Jamie, hunched, giggling over the table.
"We've been drinking since you left" Cass smirked, before conspiratorially leaning towards Jay and Brett "The nanites are keeping me sober" she whispered behind a cupped hand "Don't tell him"
"Again!" Jamie banged his fist on the table "One more"
"Okay – One, two, three" they clasped their two clenched fists together in unison "Brain!"
"Replicates rainbow and harnesses lightening" Cass called above Jamie's howls of laughter "Invents laser, nuke and devil amongst others" she extended a hand towards Brett "Nice to meet you. I'm Cass and this is Jamie; he's our engineer"
"And what do you do?" Brett asked as they shook hands.
Cass shrugged "Stuff"
"No one's entirely sure" Jay clapped a familiar hand on her shoulder "but she does it so well"
"Drinks!" Jamie yelled, slapping his hands down on the table in front of him "More drinks!"
