A Glass of Courage

The Dwarfers looked at each other then at the ground. “I think we'd better discuss this by the fire while we get you patched up.” said Jay, Ransom handing South a dressing gown and a pair of slippers that had tumbled out of his room. South put them on and they walked to fire. After a few moments walking you could hear him shout the words “Three million years!?!” into the distance.

As many others were answering Dr. South's questions as best as they could, Jaxx just watched in silence as he listened to everyone. When it came to technical questions he was in way over his head. The best he could do in this discussion was to smile and nod. As he looked at the others he could see they all had at least an idea of what the two new guys were talking about. As he looked at Eve he saw she to knew of the chef named Brett and could somewhat follow the other two smart guys talking about sciency stuff. He watched with a small grin on his face as his wife seemed happy for the time being. He wasn't sure if it was the three new dudes that just arrived or the heavy guilt trip left by Dr. Black, but he was glad to see her her happy. However he had to wonder where he fit in this picture. He knew he was not smart and the only skills in his resume were fighting, swimming and chilling out with his wife. Though he felt out of place he didn't let it show as he watched and listened to everyone talk. Though he understood very little of what was being said he just smiled and tried to think about his past due training in diplomacy and how Franky was going to rake him over the grill when he got back for slouching to much. He was deathly afraid to upset his Calamar Master and with good reason too. Unknown to the others he actually saw a glimpse into his Master's mind and saw just how scary strong he really is. Of course training for over a thousand years does set one apart from those of average skill like himself. As he imagined the torture that would await him back on the Dwarf he felt a cold shiver run down his spine as he feared going back home. At this point his only saving grace was the desperation of his Master to rebuild the Calamar race and religion. Since he was the only apprentice he was given more leeway than any other apprentice in the history of Calamar. Since it was only a matter of time before his training would continue he did his best to enjoy the little peace he had with the others and his wife.
Eve seemed to get a bit more relaxed as she was talking to Brett about his cooking as well as the other two doctors. Perhaps it was the fact they were a new topic and they did not have an opinion of her or her husband, or perhaps it was the heavy guilt trip laid on her and Jaxx by Dr. Black, but for the time being she was in good spirits as she sipped her Mai Tai. Brett was more than happy to reminisce over his past recipes with the others and Ransom and Dr. South were both full of questions about the current world/universe they were in. As she looked at her husband she noticed he was politely staying quiet. She knew he was out of sorts but was doing his best for her in his own way. It made her happy that he put on a brave face for her even though he was not good with technical talk. As she continued on with the others she learned a few interesting details about the new guys as well as answered a few questions for them such as that she was a GELF Model and Jaxx was a MACO GELF (Shark-Man) as well as their original purpose and what they are doing now. As the time flew by she didn't realize she was getting a bit tipsy after three of the extra large Mai Tais (1 Quart) the staff kept bringing her and her husband.
