Improvised Solutions

Forgive me for being away for so long, RL is under control now. Forgive me if I don't write as Arien and Sven well, I'll try my best to nail their personalities.

"That's just the thing" Artemis said hurriedly "It's not them. A bunch of psychos have turned up with a squad of heavy combat 'bots and have started executing Haruk. They're demanding your return and if they don't get you, they're going to carry on with the killing"
"Damn it" Plisken hissed. Time with no Boundaries had finally found him
Isaiah's brow knotted in an all too human display of concentration as he struggled to follow the exchange. His lips curling to reveal an impressive set of yellowing fangs "You come now human"

"You know, in all my years at Charon helping the Dimensional Tunneler Project, I never would have thought that the multiverse was this convoluted" Artemis said as the lumbering troglodytes escorted He, Plisken, and two people he hadn't met before, Sven Ignatyev and Dr. Arien Velera, to the Matriarch.

Plisken snorted. "You've only scratched the surface Pritchard, I've been dealing with this shit since...well, as long as I can remember"

"And I know that you've visited the Charon Labs facility before"

"Yeah, quite the fucking monstrosity if I do say so myself"

"I don't need your personal input Mr. Plisken, I need to know if you're familiar with Charon Robotics"

"To some extent, yes"

"Good, I need you to remove my High Pressure Backup Battery from my casing"

"Why?"

"Because it's as close to a weapon...."

"QUIET!" One of the guards yelled. "FLOATING ROBOT WILL DIE IF IT DOES NOT QUIET!"

"Grab it!" Artemis whispered.

Plisken, his hands bound, carefully slid the exterior access panel off and sifted around until he found the battery, which was obviously labeled.

"How clunky and expositional" Plisken said, examining the label.

"Shh! Now, I have no idea what to do next"

"Are you fucking kidding me?!" Plisken whispered angrily.

"Look, that thing is as close to a weapon as we have, it's under intense pressure and that particular model was discontinued due to its habit of exploding"

"Punch a hole in the damned thing" Arien chimed in.

"Pardon?" said Plisken.

"Punch. A. Hole. In. It. It'll build the interior pressure, giving us a few seconds to throw it" she growled.

"Well, if you want to be a neanderthal about it...." Artemis snipped.

"Now look!" Arien said, being interrupted by the hiss of Plisken puncturing the battery housing, and kicking it under the lead guards.

The explosion knocked the guards off the trail, and tore the length of rope they had been leading the group with asunder.

"RUN!" Plisken yelled, grabbing and throwing Artemis into the bushes, then running after him as he screamed at the top of his lungs (in a fashion that would impress any female Opera singer).

Arien and Sven followed Plisken (after Plisken recovered his signature revolver from the downed guard) into the bushes as the remaining Haruk tried to regain their senses. The trio kept running until they found the familiar blue glow of Artemis' Suspension tank.

"YOU TROGLODYTE BASTARD, THIS 'FLOATING FISH BOWL' IS THE ONLY THING KEEPING MY ALIVE AT THE SCIENCE-DAMNED MOMENT!" Artemis yelled, shaking the mud off of himself. "IT'S THE ONLY ONE LEFT IN OUR PITIFUL GALAXY AND I'D APPRECIATE IT IF I COULD STAY ALIVE TO SEE MY DAMNED FAMILY AGAIN!"

"Family?" Plisken asked (Artemis forgetting that he hadn't been on the Dwarf for some time).

"Oh, yes, I had children, six of them"

"Congrats, but if you have any desire to see them again, I suggest you keep your voice lowered" Plisken took inventory of his current compatriots.

There was Artemis, who was able to improvise 'solutions' with little to no resources, when he wasn't verbally assaulting people. Then, there was Sven, a hulking robot who could easily tear the Haruk limb from limb, and Arien, whom Plisken had little knowledge of, but nonetheless a scientist that could probably lend a hand with any gadget-building.

"Alright, the rest of the crew is here, so we need to regroup with them if we're going to have a chance of getting out of here alive. Artemis, if I can get you some resources, can you put together something to even the odds?"

"Mr. Plisken, honestly, you've got to know be now"

"Good. Arien, I want you to lend a hand. Sven....if anything comes our way, kill it. Now, before we do anything else, we need a way to signal the others"

"Easy, we take my emergency transmitter and wire it into Sven, whose power supply is much greater than mine" Artemis said.

"It's worth a shot, I doubt the others will pick it up with the flux fields in place, but it's the best we've got. While you're doing that, I'll go find you and Arien something to work with"

Sometime Later

"There, that should work, give it a try Mr. Sven" Artemis said.

Sven activated the transmitter.

"Distress, Distress, Distress, Charon ILIAD Unit 0222-1995-MM is in need of assistance"

"The unit is breaking through the interference...though I am not sure how far it will reach" Sven commented.

"Let's just hope somebody is listening, somebody that won't try to kill us"

<tag/Plisken/Sven/Arien>

The emergency transmission is up, Sven's increased power supply should increase the range. Can you guys hear it or is the interference too strong?

Plisken-Find something that we can use to make improvised weapons out of, there's bound to be something useful laying around.

Arien-Anything to add? We're going to need more than weapons to get out of this mess, perhaps something that could hide us from the enemy?

Sven-You're carrying an emergency transmitter now, other than that, I imagine you could easily tear down any attackers

Sorry if I blundered in a bit, it's been a while.
