"Captain!" Niples' view of Penny was suddenly blocked by Katrina Swete.
"Look, I'm sorry about yesterday..." she started. Niples' heart sank as he
saw Penny leave again.
He focused on Katrina in front of him.
"I just, oh, I don't know how to tell you what's wrong with me," Katrina
continued.
Seymour nodded.
All Katrina could do was smile. "So, what'd you do last night?"
Seymour seemed to go a little pale.
"You okay?"
He nodded.
"I mean, if you wanna go out with Alota, that's fine by me," she said
somewhat quietly. "I'll just-"
"Wait, what do you mean by that?" Seymour asked, surprised.
Katrina gave him a half angry-half amused look. "You are a divvy, aren't you?
I like you, okay? I've always liked you. You're a great guy with a big
important job. I know you're totally in-love with Penny Lloyd and she
wouldn't give you the time of day, and I'm sorry for that. I think your best
bet would be with Alota."
"There's nothing between me and Alota," Seymour said, which was slightly a
lie.
"But, and don't think I was spying or anything, I saw you leave her quarters
this morning."
"Oh."
Katrina wrapped her arms around him. "It's okay. Do what you want with who
you want. Have fun and be happy." As she pulled away, she kissed his cheek.
She gave him a sad smile, and left him standing there in shock.
