OOC - Blast From The Past

Becca used to play Tara, Amber and Rufus and she wrote the below. I'm posting it for her as requested :)

The boy shuffled in the sand, watching the new woman who had entered the camp. She really was like Narcissa. Cass looked behind her, noticing the curious child, but not paying more attention than that.

As Seymour led Cass through the camp explaining things to her slowly, leading her into a tent with water and shade, the boy still followed. Curiousity unrivaled by any of the other kids in camp. Cass looked out of the corner of her eye as she sat, having been left briefly to rest. He had a mane of floppy black hair, dark skin like the locals, almond shaped eyes, again like the locals, but they were an odd dark blue. She thought he looked famillier in some way.

"You make a good shadow. But you have to get up earlier than that to sneak up on me kid. Take anything, try to pick pocket me and I will hurt you." She grumbled, tired and sandy. He made a strangled noise of surprise.

"Y... You a... are exactly how M... Mum discribed her." He peeped out from behind the folds of tent he was hiding in. Taking in the sight of the not stranger.

"Who?" Cass grumped. Curious about her alter ego.

"W... Who w... What?" He asked, the stammer evident in his voice. Then Cass got it, a leap of mental agility that in hidsight seemed obvious.

"Your mum, was Amber?" She was mildly surprised that the agressive young woman was still alive in this alternate. Not left back in the Sol system.

"Yeah." He looked sad, tears welled up in his eyes and he turned away. Savagely wiping them with the back of his hand. Cass caught glimpses of scarring along his arms as he turned. "T... The S... S... Sun God k... Killed her." He half whispered the phrase, spitting out the name of his enemy. Cass floundered for words, lost as to what to say to the boy.

"I'm sorry." She said, looking over to him hidden in the folds of the tent.

"I d..drive the s..speeders. Mum always c..called me a p..p..pilot. Dunno why." He offered Cass a weak smile. "If you need any h..help getting anyw..where Just a..ask for Dexter." He vanished under the folds of material and out into the sand again.
