I Got Better

Evelina was having trouble holding Jaxx up as they walked down the halls. "Are you sure your ok Jaxx? I thought you were going to die on me." asked a concerned Evelina. Jaxx smiled at Evelina with a hint of pain as he answered, "I did die Eve babe........but I got better." Evelina raised an eyebrow of concern as she said, "You are a terrible liar Jaxx and we are going to the Med-Bay now." Jaxx hesitated at first then bowed his head in shame as he answered, "Yes Eve babe."

Evelina help the staggering Jaxx to the Med-Bay where they saw Dr. Jade & Cass working feverishly on Jay. Evelina was about to say something to Dr. Jade but Jaxx put his hand on her shoulder and shook his head no. Jaxx pointed at an empty bed nearby and whispered take me to that one Eve babe. Evelina nodded and help the bloody Jaxx get on the bed.

Evelina said, "I need to get the doctor to stop the bleeding." Jaxx grabbed Evelina's hand and shook his head no as he whispered, "Naw babe I'll be fine, just stop the bleedin if ya can." Evelina looked at Jaxx's wounds which included several cuts on the arms, legs and stomach and a small part of a spear still stuck in Jaxx's arm. Evelina whispered, "But Jaxx I only know basic first aid......I" Jaxx smiled at Evelina and said, "Its ok Eve babe I trust ya. Just tell me when your ready for me to pull the spear from my arm." Evelina nodded as she gathered some first aid cream and some bandages.

Evelina held the bandages ready as she nodded to Jaxx. Jaxx then reach over to his wounded arm and slowly pulled the barbed spear head from his arm as he clenched his teeth in pain. As soon as the spearhead was free Evelina quickly applied first aid cream and bandages to stop the bleeding. Jaxx whispered, "Thanx babe. the rest should be easy."

Evelina then put first aid cream and bandages on all the cuts Jaxx managed to get during his frenzy. After Evelina managed to stop the bleeding she then used some water and clean rags to clean the blood off Jaxx. As Evelina wiped down Jaxx she whispered, "Jaxx can I ask you something?" Jaxx gave her a painful smile as he whispered, "Sure babe." Evelina didn't look Jaxx in the eye as she whispered, "What happened to you back there? I mean one second you were in trouble and the next you were out of control." Jaxx sighed as he took a deep breath. Then Jaxx whispered, "I dunno Eve babe.I remember getting tired and then this scary creature in my mind attacked me. Like the next thing remember was like you screamin for help."

Jaxx winced in pain for a second. Evelina then looked in the first aid kit and found some aspirin. She looked at the dosage for weight before giving Jaxx six of them and some water. Jaxx took the pills and then sat up. Evelina asked, "What are you doing?" Jaxx smiled as he whispered, "I'm fine Eve babe. Lets like go get some grub before we go to crash. Evelina help Jaxx up and to the Refectory.

“Since when did you guys get here?” Evelina called out with a concerned tone, as she and Jaxx walked into the Refectory, and got themselves a hoagie each. “We’ve been searching the decks to find our way back for positively ages!”
“We only just got here!” Yasmin pointed out, taking another mouthful of her sushi. She’d only just recently remembered she was a vegetarian. She nodded to [redacted] and company. “So did they.”
Everyone sat down gruffly, and, after about half an hour, the argument started…

Jaxx forced himself to eat some fruits and vegetables while Evelina found her choice meals. Jaxx ignored the arguing as he was to tired to deal with the bickering.

“Right” Cass snapped as she stepped into the room “I’m sure you’ll all be pleased to hear that we managed to stabilize Jay and that, while he remains in a coma, he doesn’t appear to be deteriorating any further”
She paused to scan the faces of the assembled crew
“Needless to say, we lack the facilities on board here to engineer a cure for anything as sophisticated as a nanophage virus - so we need to find somewhere that might have those facilities; and for that we need a drive room so we have access to the long range scanners and more accurate scientific instruments”
“Pancakes imbecilic actions have cost us the last of our resources, so as of tomorrow we are on a resource mining mission” Cass continued “There’s a gas giant about six AU from here with a ring system, which we can mine for resources and fuel; after that we rebuild the drive room and start looking for somewhere we can find a cure for Jay”
“Do what you want tonight” she sighed tiredly “We arrive at the giant and start work around midday tomorrow”

After that Evelina help Jaxx to a nearby unused and empty sleeping quarters. Jaxx managed to get on the lower bunk and under the covers as he smiled at a concerned Evelina. Evelina whispered in Jaxx's ear, "Good night Jaxx and thanks for everything." As she pulled away she noticed he was now asleep.
