Jade chuckled and glanced away to frown at Cassandra who was talking in low tones to White Wolf across the other side of the campfire
“Y’know I still can’t place her face” she murmured “You sure she was on the crew?”
Alex wrinkled his nose
“No, she was never crew” he admitted, keeping his voice low “She’s pulled Jay up on that more than enough times when he tried to order her around – As she keeps telling him: She’s not crew and never will be”
Jade raised her eyebrows
“So where’s she from? How come she’s here?”

Jaxx sat quietly by Evelina's side at the campfire. He saw Alex and the new Doctor enjoying a private conversation, while the others seemed to be engrossed in some serious conversation. Jaxx wasn't interested in what the others were talking about, only that they were happy to see each other. "I am totally digging the calm vibe the others are givin. I just like wish all of us could be here." ,thought Jaxx. Then Jaxx looked at the sky as he thought, "Davie if your like totally out there in the spirit world, I just want to say thanx for like everythin and stuff. I like totally can't remember the past, but I want to believe we were like buds and I won't forget you bro."

Jaxx closed his eyes for a moment as he smiled. Then his attention turned to Evelina who was leaning on his shoulder as his arm was across her back. Jaxx looked at her with a warm smile. "How is your broken arm feelin Eve babe?" ,asked Jaxx. Evelina looked up at Jaxx and smiled as she said, "It's not as bad as it looks. The doctor reset it and gave me something for the pain. Besides we GELFs were made tough right?" Jaxx replied, "I guess so. I'm just like glad your like ok and safe."

Evelina looked at Jaxx and asked, "How is your black eye and your bruised ribs?" Jaxx looked at Evelina with a smile and said, "Its just a scratch babe. I didn't even notice it till you brought it up." Evelina gave Jaxx a condescending look as she said, "Really now?" Jaxx rolled his eyes and said, "Naw it totally hurts like hell. I was tryin to put on a cool face for ya but ya got me." Jaxx paused for a moment then said, "Eve babe I'm sorry you like got hurt trying to help me." Evelina smiled at Jaxx and said, "Its ok Jaxx, like I told you before we GELFs have to stick together."

“Shush…” Alex elbowed her and nodded across at Cass who was standing with an unhappy frown on her face, her arms folded defensively in front of her, obviously uncomfortable at being the centre of attention and still wearing what amounted to little more than glorified tribal underwear
“Sorry guys...” she started and paused to pull a hand out to run it nervously back through the remains of her hair “I didn’t realise you were all here for me...”
She stopped again to survey the assembled faces, lit in stark relief by the flickering campfire
“I thought you were here for the spaceport, not me” Cass tried again “It’s been weeks and I had given up hope... I... I don’t even know some of you, and yet Wolfie here tells me that you all came here to try and help me”
She took a deep, shaky breath before continuing – This apparently wasn’t coming easily
“I just wanted to say thanks and that I’m humbled, and that I... I owe you all”
Folding her arms again she cast her eyes downward and without another word, stalked across the circle around the campfire to sit down next to Jay

Raising his eyebrows, Alex blew out a low breath as he watched her walk past him
Wonders would never cease...

Folding her legs up in front of her as she sat down on the ground, Cass leaned forward to hug her knees to her chest and rest her chin on her arms, turning her head slightly to glance sidelong at Jay out of the corner of her eyes
“I’m sorry” she said after a moment and turned to look at him, her green eyes meeting his “I was stupid. I’m so sorry for everything”
Silently reaching out, she snaked a hand into one of his, their fingers intertwining in the darkness
“So sorry” she whispered

Jaxx looked at Evelina's warm smile. Then she looked at the rescued member of the crew and asked, "So who is this person we rescued?" Jaxx sighed as he replied, "I dunno, but she like looks happy to be with the crew again. Maybe we can totally learn more stuff when we go back to the Blue Dork ship ." Evelina said, "You mean the Blue Dwarf?" Jaxx replied, "My bad Eve babe. Maybe you could show me around when we get there. Accordin to Davie and the Doc Phi chick, I like totally lived in a lab full of sciency stuff." Evelina replied, "Sounds like fun. I can't wait." Evelina put her head on Jaxx's shoulder again. Jaxx looked at her with a smile as he realized his ribs didn't hurt so bad when she was with him. Then Jaxx whispered to Evelina, "Your the best babe."
