Let’s clear a few inconsistencies up first: We are not at sea - I mentioned a “wide lake” and the starbug has sunk in the “murky shallows”, so we were probably only about ten metres or so from the shore
Bearing this in mind, I’ll assume Jaxx is still groggy from his transformation – hope that’s okay

Then Cass spoke up "Where the smeg did he get this?"

"And more to the point: Why?"
She paused to catch a stray lock of her hair back behind an ear and to frown in distaste at the filthy, waterlogged contents of the crate
"I mean look at all this rotting shit... It must have been underwater for years; it's useless"
Folding her arms, she looked between Jaxx, who had slipped into unconsciousness on the floor, and everyone else
"I say we kill him while he's out cold" she said bluntly "We don't know how long we're going to be stranded here, and he's too dangerous to have with us; and besides: This is all his fault!"
"No" Jay said firmly amidst various murmurs of both assent and disagreement from amongst the other survivors "We can't just kill him in cold blood"
Cass shrugged
"I can. You wanna smegging watch me?" she started looking around down on the ground by the lakeshore "One of these big rocks should crush his skull nicely"
"Cass" Jay snapped "No! - You're not a killer!"
"Yeah, but he is!" she wheeled to boot Jaxx hard in the side of his head before moving away in distaste at the sight of him, sprawled in his budgie smugglers "The GELF's that this smegging animal murdered all looked like either me or Katrina; we're just lucky that the both of us weren't killed that day as well!"
"Those GELF's posed a threat to all our lives!" Jay quietly reminded her
"It was in hand!" Cass snapped dismissively "We would have been fine! - We didn't need bloodshed on that scale!"
"And need I remind you" she continued, addressing Jay directly "that he just tried to kill you in yet another one of his murderous smegging rampages? - And that's what? The second or third, this week?"
Pausing to draw breath, her green eyes searched everyone else’s
“Why are we all tolerating a psychotic killer in our midst?” she asked “It’s stupid; you’ve all seen what this... thing is capable of and what it’s like with its violence and it’s temperament – None of us are safe!”
“All the same” Jay interrupted impatiently “I won’t condone murder”
“Why not?” Cass shrugged "He’ll murder one of us soon enough - Is his life somehow worth more than any one of ours? Why should we feel threatened and terrorised by this smegging monster?”
“That’s not the point” Jay began
“So what is the point!?” Cass demanded “What happens the next time he’s on a killing spree?" she paused to look between both Jay and Katrina "What happens if you’re not around to save us next time Jay? What happens if Max gets in his way? What then?"

I’m not expecting to actually kill anyone here, but that’s Cass’s colours nailed to the mast – does anyone want to try and prick her conscience before we start exploring?
