OOC - OngoingWorlds website for play-by-post games

OOC - Hello everyone! If you've chatted to me recently on MSN you'll already know that I've been working on creating a new website called OngoingWorlds.
The website is a place where you can setup a new play-by-post game (just like the Blue Dwarf). Currently we use a Yahoo Group to run Blue Dwarf, which is a very simple system and has been working well for us for a long time (almost 10 years!). But the problem with Yahoo is that it doesnt give you any tools to create character profiles, or add a knowledge base for technology or locations in the universe we've visited. We've always had to use a separate website for that (www.bluedwarf.co.uk).
So I've created OngoingWorlds to hopefully be the best tool for creating and running play-by-post games. On there you can add characters to your game, which can be arranged into groups (like we have done for department, Navigation, Security etc.) and very soon the characters will be able to be tagged to each post, like in facebook how you can tag a person in an image, so that you'll be able to instantly see who is involved in this post by a series of thumbnails of the character's photo down the right hand side.
Other cool things are the way a member can apply to your game. This process is much slicker than we've ever had on the BD. Most of you will realise, but to sign up you have to submit a character profile on BlueDwarf.co.uk, and also a separate request to join the Yahoo Group, which is awkward and time consuming. It also means you have to remember different logins for the group and the site.
In OngoingWorlds it's all done under one login, so when a member applies to join a game, all the moderator has to do is review the character profile the user has submitted, and click to approve them into their game. Their character will then be automatically added to the crew roster without any copying and pasting.
Some of you might be happy with just playing in the Blue Dwarf, or any other play-by-post games you're involved with, but if you've keen to start up a new one - please give OngoingWorlds a try!
The site has been released in public beta, which means it's fully working apart from there might be a few minor bugs here and there.
I'm not going to move Blue Dwarf over to OngoingWorlds straight away, maybe not for a very long time because we would need to copy across over 12,000 posts!
