Pancake + Rufus fix the BD
<snip>
The battle had started. "Good work. See if you can sneak past the Hymenoptera
and get onboard."
<end snip>
Who: Rufus and Justin Pancake
Where: Snow planet, Outside the Blue Dwarf
When: As the Hymenoptera attacked
Most of the Hymenoptera had noticed the Blue Dwarf crew attacking. How couldn't
they? Several hundred Humans and one Ffionian lobbing snowballs as hard as they
could. Even Queen Brittany, Half Human and Half Hymenoptera, sat on her majestic
throne pulled by two giant Coccinellidae (ladybirds), was shocked as a snowball
hit her in the face. Embarrassed and stunned, she shook it off. "Kill them! Kill
them all!" She cried. "And when you're done, set fire to their big blue ship!"
Justin and Rufus ran through the chaos. A giant spider leaped into their path,
with the Human torso of Chris Harris.
"Mr Harris?" Said Rufus.
Justin pulled him to one side as the Harris-noptera raised himself up tall on
his eight black legs and aimed his bazukoid at them. Justin pulled Rufus out of
the way of the blast.
"That's not the Harris we know, it's THIS universe's Harris." Justin said.
"Did I hear my name?" Said a familiar voice behind them. Chris Harris, Blue
Dwarf's Chief Security officer stood behind them, armed with a snowball. He
quickly noticed the Hymenoptera version of himself. "Oh." He said. "I like what
you've done with your... legs." he said.
The Harris-noptera said something in creepy Hymenoptera language and aimed at
Harris. Harris quickly threw the snowball into the creature's eyes, blinding
him. The bazukoid fired up into the air.
"Quick get under his legs!" Harris shouted to Justin.
"What?"
"Trip him up for me!" Said Harris, pointing at the creature bumbling around on
his unsteady legs. It lurched forward and fell over Justin, collapsing onto the
ground in front of them.
"Or get in its way. That's good enough." Harris said dryly.
Justin pulled the Bazukoid out of the creatures' hand, which Harris instantly
snatched off him. "I'll take that thanks." He said.
"Don't you trust me?" Said Justin. He knew the Captain would have kept Harris
informed about all of Pancake's desires to join the Hymenoptera.
"No." Harris said, and used the bazukoid to splatter his alter ego's head into a
green stain on the snow.
Justin and Rufus ran towards the Blue Dwarf. Above the chaos they heard Harris
call behind him. "Don't do anything stupid Pancake."
"What does he mean?" Asked Rufus.
"Oh.... nothing." Said Justin.
"Why didn't he trust you?" Said Rufus.
"Nothing. We need to get inside." Justin pointed to the Blue Dwarf.
He had never seen the ship like this. The only time you got to see the Blue
Dwarf in it's entirely usually was when you were leaving in a Starbug, or coming
back. It was so unusual to see it landed on a planet in the snow. It looked like
an island in the Arctic. A blue island.
The ship's belly rested on the ice. All they had to do was find an airlock.
"There's one!" Said Rufus and ran over to an electric keypad. As he keyed in the
code, stray shots of bazukoid fire exploded on the Blue Dwarf's hull above his
head. Fortunately the tough steel wasn't damaged.
"Got it." Said Rufus and an airlock door slid open. Behind them, two Hymenoptera
had noticed them and started running.
"Get in quick!" Said Rufus.
They got in and the door closed behind them, locking the Hymenoptera outside.
Pancake mocked them through the glass by waving at them. "What a weird looking
creature." He said.
"I thought you liked the Hymenoptera?" Said Rufus.
"I do. But these ones have the body of an ant, but with the legs of a Human. I'd
rather have the body of a man but the legs of an insect."
"I'd rather just be a man." Said Rufus.
"It's boring though." Said Justin. "What about a nice pair of insect antennae?
It'd suit you!"
"No thanks." Said Rufus. "Shall we get to the Drive Room?"
Justin followed Rufus to the express-lift elevator, which they rode all the way
up to the Drive Room.
"So what's the plan?" Justin asked.
Rufus got a piece of paper out of his pocket. "I need to input this formula into
the Wormhole Drive. It'll take us back to our own dimension."
"Convenient!" Said Justin.
Then he looked at the piece of paper again. "Hold on. Where did you get that?"
"A woman gave it to me." He said.
"Was she hot?" Justin asked. A question he always asks when someone mentions a
woman.
"She was really nice." Said Rufus.
Justin took a piece of paper from his pocket. It was the one in which the
mysterious "Potential" person had written the words "You have potential" on it.
"They're the same." Said Rufus. "Did you see her too?"
"Mine was a man. He told me he he was the ghost of Christmas past, present and
future. He showed me my future, it was awesome."
"So we've both been visited by time travellers." Said Rufus. He examined the
piece of paper more closely. "There's a watermark in the paper." he said, and
held it up the the light of the express-lift. "It says 'The Time Agency'."
Justin nodded. "So they're people who monkey around with the timeline, and get
PAID for it! What a job!" He admired.
The elevator stopped and the door opened onto the Drive Room. They both got out
and Rufus quickly went over to the Wormhole Drive computer and started entering
the digits on his piece of paper which Annie the time traveller had given him.
Justin started pacing around, and touching things. He didn't normally come to
the Drive Room so this was a novelty for him.
He accidentally knocked over a very very clod mug of coffee which had been left
there, and it spilled onto the floor.
"Don't touch anything!" Shouted Rufus. And saw what he'd knocked over. "The
Drive Room has lots of very sensitive equipment. If you'd have spilled that onto
a computer you would have broken it, and we'd probably never get off this planet
and back to our own universe.
Pancake looked out of the window, which was all iced up. He rubbed it but there
was too much snow on the outside. "I can't see if we're winning the battle or
not." He said. "We're probably loosing. The Hymenoptera are far too powerful."
"Be optimistic!" Said Rufus. "There... done." He said.
"Okay." Said Justin. "So we can go back to our own universe?"
"Yes. All we have to do is press this green button here."
"Do it!"
"No way!" Said Rufus. "We're the only people on the ship! Everyone else is still
outside!"
"Screw em. Press it now!" Said Justin, and leaned over to press it. But Rufus
pushed him back.
"Stop it, you idiot! We have to go help everyone else fight the Hymenoptera!"
Said Rufus, and pulled Justin back into the Expresslift elevator.
<Tag Okay everyone, we're all ready to go. Just get onto the Blue Dwarf and we
can go home! Becca, maybe we can find some weapons on the BD to hand out to the
Humans outside? Or maybe we can make all the Hymenoptera back off by killing the
Queen?>
