Holly H@ck Hack

<snip>
All the screens went blank, and the Starbug lights dimmed. All of the monitors
displayed two words only. "Holly H@ck."
"Jay…. I mean Captain…" Efof started. "That deranged Holly, he's sent us a
computer virus!"
Jay slammed his fist down on the navigation console. "Dammit. What's been
affected?"
"Everything that's controlled by computers. Engines, life support, steering."
"Smeg." Said Jay, and looked out of the cockpit window. "I'd just brought us
around for a second pass too. We're heading straight for the Blue Dwarf with no
way to stop ourselves."
</snip>
Micky looked up as soon as the engines cut out. There were a lot of concerned faces as the monitors around the small transport ship lit up with 'Holly H@ck'.
"Hol," he whispered so as not to draw anyones attention to the fact he had his own small version of the ships computer built into his arm, "what the hell is that?"
"I dunno. I told you before I can't make a connection to myself onboard."
"Think you could over-ride it?" Micky was doing his best to think of a way to explain to the captain he might be able to solve the problem, but mustn't have any witnesses to his actions. Not only that, a few minutes earlier the captain had been ready to pull his only good arm off after making another pass at Katrina.
"Just get me to a computer, I'll do my best." Holly winked at him secretively and dissapeared.
In the cockpit, Jay was manically pressing buttons trying to get the computers back online.
"Captain?" Micky asked from the doorway.
"Not now, balls for brains!" He yelled back, obviously still slightly pissed off at him. "Can't you see there's an emergency here?!"
"Efof?" Micky turned to the dude with four arms. "Could you give us a minute, and take this random guy I don't know with you..." He signalled to the bloke in the science officers seat with his thumb.
"Okay Micky!" Efof seemed to have forgotten about the emergency and walked out the cockpit, using all of his arms to sweep the other crewmember out the door with him.
Micky hit the 'Door Lock' button and threw himself in the co-pilots chair.
"What do you think you're doing?!" Jay demanded.
"Shut up and watch." Micky shot back. Jay was dumbfounded by his complete lack of discipline and respect. And he already knew he had very little of either. "Holly, do your bit! We don't have long!"
The robotic arm kicked into motion with a rapid jolt and started tapping away at the numerous buttons and key pads on the cockpit dashboard. Jay noticed the small screen on the arms forcep no bigger than an ancient fifty-pence piece, where Holly looked out concentrating hard on the task at hand.
"Good God!" Jay screamed. "Don't you realise that he has gone mad! Are you trying to guarantee our doom, Bellhorn?!"
"It's alright, Captain." Holly replied for him. "Gimme two secs, we'll be back online."
"And how can I trust you?" Jay was starting to think he had nodded off and was having a crazy nightmare about talking to a tiny monitor stuck to some idiots robotic arm.
"Because he hasn't been able to make an uplink to the Holly on board since we came back from the land of Robin and Marion." Micky turned to Jay while Holly kept working away with his arm. "They aren't connected. No one knows I can't use my arm myself. All the stuff I did to get anyone out of any sort of tricky situation wasn't me. Whenever I try to do anything, the stupid thing does exactly what I don't want it to!"
Jay tried to take all this in at once. He didn't know whether to be pissed off at Micky for stealing part of his ships computer, pissed off at him for being a complete idiot and endangering the crew by having no control over what could potentially be a lethal weapon, or just laugh at the idiot for being such a... well... idiot. In the end all he could come up with was,
"Why don't you just tell it to do what you don't want it to do?"
"Eh?" Obviously too many positives and negatives in one sentence for Micky to understand.
The lights suddenly brightened and the whole craft shook as the engines tried to struggle to life. Micky turned back to look out the cockpit window and smiled at Jay.
"See?" He flicked his thumb at the approaching Blue Dwarf. "Plenty of time to get us out of trouble!"
Jay struggled with the controls, trying to use what little power was in the retros and the failing engines to get them to safety.
"NO!" He cried out as the lights, engines, retros, computers and any other equipment switched itself off.
"Don't worry, captain." Holly said with confidence. "Every machine needs to shut down and restart for any changes to take effect. We will be back online in just a minute." He smiled at Jay who looked at the cannons charging themselves for another target practice on the Starbug.
"Yeah, but they will be ready in just a second. We're sitting ducks!"
<Tag everyone on board! - You're in the dark, nothing works for the next couple of minutes and we're about to get shot at!>
