A flipping Pancake

Who: Justin Pancake, Micky Bellhorn and Efof Yuwan'Kar
Where: On top of the Prison
When: During the Hymenoptera attack on the Prison, before we time-travel

There were sounds of angry Mollopods shouting, and then a bright searchlight was
turned towards them.
Highlighted in the beam of the spotlight, Efof cried back at them "It's okay,
we're breaking in, not breaking out!"
An alarm went off anyway.
"I think we better find Rosette fast." Said Justin.
Luckily for them, the building they were standing on was the very one that had
been used to capture and hold the entire crew of the Blue Dwarf. Beneath them,
a screech erupted from the doorway as a giant spider leapt through, tearing the
Mollopods apart. The Hymenopterran Coccinellidae screeched down to the spider,
causing a momentary lapse in Rosette's concentration.
"You know.. There are other Hymenoptera on this planet, I don't need you any
more." The bug said gleefully to her, from within her mind. Rosette screamed
back, but couldn't do anything as the spider leapt up into the ship, which tore
off towards its home...

Justin, Micky and Efof stood on the rooftop watching the Hymenoptera
Coccinellidae screech into the distance with Rosette aboard.
"Was that....?" Efof asked, pointing.
"Yup." Said Justin.
"Yup." Said Micky.
"And we.... she... we were supposed to...."
"Yup" Said Micky.
Guards started shooting at them from a watchtower in the distance. They all
crouched and took cover behind a short wall.
Justin slapped his hands on his thighs. "Well that was easy then. Instead of
finding Rosette and bringing her kicking and screaming to the Hymenoptera Queen
– she's gone of her own accord!"
"Easy peasy!" Grinned Efof. "Now what?" He looked to the others for inspiration.
Justin shrugged.
"Well I have to say, I'm glad really." Efof said. "I'm not sure about this whole
being a badguy... and working for the Hymenoptera... that's always bothered me.
Did I tell you they killed my family... back on Ffion?"
"Yes yes!" Said Justin. "They're bad people. I get it."
"Then why did you agree to help them?" Efof asked in the sweet manner of a
child.
"We were in a life or death situation! I didn't know what else to do!" He said.
"But what about the Space Corps?" Efof asked. "Jay once told me that everyday
you put this uniform on, you're making a promise to the Space Corps to uphold
its... thingimajigies."
"Core values?" Micky suggested. "Laws?"
"Maybe. But that doesn't mean anything to me. When I put on my Space Corps
uniform, I'm not doing it for any big political statement or any of that ethical
Star Trek rubbish. I'm doing it because all my friends that I've ever known
(since Ffion was destroyed of course), every friend I've made since then has
been on the Blue Dwarf. Blue Dwarf is my new family now. And I'm not sure I want
to swap sides and work for the Hymenoptera, and turn all my friends into
enemies."
Justin was shocked at such a moving speech. It all evaporated when he offered
Efof a shiny penny to continue working for the Hymenoptera.
"Ooh shiny!" Said Efof. "So what do we do next?"
"We head back to the Queen. She'll tell us what to-" Justin stopped as he heard
a cracking from the goo in his pocket.
He pulled out the Hymenoptera communications device he was given earlier. It
pulsed bright green and emitted a high-pitched scream. Justin tilted his head,
as he listened to the telepathic Hymenopteran message coming from it.
"What's going on?" Micky asked.
"The Queen." Justin said. "Rosette has killed the Queen!"
"What!" Said Efof. "Oh well, lets go home. I want to go talk to Jay."
"Not so fast!" Justin said quickly. "Rosette is our new leader now. And she's
coming this way, with an army!"
"What?"
"She's bringing the Hymenoptera here. To kill everyone, Mollopods, Humans...."
"Ffionians?" Efof asked.
"Everyone!" Justin said. "Except us. We will help the new Queen and she'll spare
our lives!"
Efof sighed, and watched several Hymenoptera ships fly towards them from the
horizon. An army of bugs that looked like Praying Mantis' were marching across
the ground too, coming straight for them. "I'm glad I'm on their side." Said
Efof, even though he didn't mean it.
Where: Inside the Prison
When: 15 minutes later.
"What the hell? Where did all these come from?" Shouted Captain Chrysler.
"I let them in thought the main gates." Said Justin, just quiet enough so that
Jay didn't hear over the noise of attacking insects. "It's surprising how hard
it is to escape from prison, but how easy it is to let in several hundred
Hymenoptera warrior bugs."
Justin, Micky and Efof watched from a high balcony as the crew of the Blue Dwarf
battled the bugs. Both Micky and Justin had their arms folded, watching with a
dry smirk. Efof however had his knuckles in his mouth. "Watch out Chris!" He
called out, warning Harris of a warrior bug behind him. "Jay there's one that
looks like a dragonfly just above you!"
"Stop helping them. They're the enemy remember!" Justin said.
"Sorry. I can't help it. They're my friends." Said Efof. "Anyway, I thought we
were doing this to help build an alliance between Humans and Hymenoptera?"
"There must be sacrifices." Justin said, convincing himself. "We're closer than
we've ever been to a great Human/Hymenopteran empire. Just look at the new
Queen, she's half Human!"
"Oh yeah." Said Efof. Then admitted. "I still don't understand."
"The Human empire isn't strong enough. It can only get stronger with the help of
the Hymenoptera." Justin said. "It's that simple."
"Oh."
"Did I tell you I met Willy Eckerslike a few months ago?"
Efof shrugged.
"Big fat guy. Chairman of the entire Jupiter Mining Corporation. He wanted me to
do something for him... I'm still not quite sure what that was..."

Where: A balcony overlooking the remains of the TransMed building on Earth
When: Same time
Willy Eckerslike interlaced his fingers as he watched a streaming video of
Justin Pancake.
"Good." He said. "He's started to accept his destiny. He's almost ready."
The picture started to fade to a bright white light. "What's this? What's
happening?!"
Justin Pancake and the rest of the Humans in the Kingdom of Little Cheftonia
disappeared into a time singularity.
