Continued - "Hymenthrope"
<Continued from my last post>
A low, almost squeaky voice echoed through Rosette's mind. It didn't
actually say anything, just hissed at her every so often. Ignoring it
was out of the question, since it was actually in her mind... Her
instincts kicked in, forcing her to cover her ears whenever it decided
to show up. She continued walking down the corridor towards the
Medibay anyway... The bandages she had wrapped around her shoulder
were slowly becoming red with blood.
"Doctor? are you here?" She asked as the Medibay door opened, and no
one appeared to be there. A Door opened to the side, Keto's office.
He stepped out of it, and looked towards the door.
"Oh, great... What's happened to you then?" He asked sarcastically,
hoping as always that his patient would just fall over dead so he
didn't have to speak to them anymore, much less treat them.
"I got stabbed... By a Hymenoptera." she said, pulling down the
shoulder of her top to show the bandages. "It doesn't hurt, but its
still bleeding..." she said, and sat down on the end of one of the
empty beds.
"A Hymenoptera? We haven't seen any of them for days..." He said,
"Pity really... They don't normally leave a patient behind."
Keto undid the bandages, and had a look at the wound. "And you say
this doesn't hurt?" He asked, poking and prodding it, hoping for some
kind of response, preferrably one he could relate to the throbbing in
his head every time someone asked for his help.
He took a sample of the blood from the wound, and got some of his
ointment from a cabinet nearby. "This will sting, but it'll heal
fast... And you'll have a scar." He added the last bit as an
afterthought. The last woman he had in the medibay with a wound was
overly superficial, and almost cried at the thought of having a
scar... He liked hearing that sound when it had been caused by
something he said. Unfortunately for him this time, Rosette was not
one to care.
"As long as it heals, i'll be happy." She said, and waited while he
applied it. The sting was there, but barely. She shrugged it off and
left the medibay shortly after, with fresh bandages over it, to help
the ointment soak in. Dr. Keto took the blood sample to his machines,
and ran it through.
"Hmm.. Hymenoptera..." he said, spying some bug cells in her blood.
The DNA tracer picked up a few stray strands of Hymenopterran DNA as well.
He picked up a small sound recorder, and pushed the record button.
"Note to self, Hymenopterran DNA in the blood of an attack victim.
Check against any future incidents." He released the record button,
and returned to his office, content to sit and wait for another
patient to torment.
Rosette Continued on her walk around the ship, opting to go to the
Promenade... There were plenty of shops that dealt with the weapons of
the crew, one in particular that she had noticed before that sold
blades. As the door of the lift opened, she stared out into the long,
brightly lit promenade to see a large Spider hymenoptera fighting with
Amber, the acting captain...
"Amber!" she called, and ran towards them, something was familar about
the beast, but she couldn't quite put her finger on it... As she
approached, she punched one of the legs, distracting him for long
enough for Amber to pull out her gun, and shoot at it.
"Ahhh... I remember you..." the beast hissed in Hymenopterran, "Your
blood tasted good..." he added, and tried to attack her. Amber fired
several shots, it's acidic blood ate into the metal floor of the ship.
He screeched, and fell back.
"I'll be back for you!" He hissed, before disappearing into the vents
above, his spider-like body compressing down into the small space.
"Amber, are you ok?" she asked, remembering her from their mission to
the Hymenoptera homeworld. "What was that?" Rosette asked.
"That was Jed... She replied, picking up her radio. "This is The
captain, I need security teams all over the ship, we have a
Hymenoptera on the loose!"
