Medicine & Tantrums

Melissa was thankful as she left the medibay, her shift had ended at a convenient time, unwilling as she was to stand around and watch her father beat six buckets of crap out of Seymour, while the rest of the medical staff, Pink Tree included, placed bets on which parts of Seymour's body would be left after this gruelling contest.

 
She went looking for Jack as she left the medibay, expecting to find him in a Hangar bay, or some such other place, due to his new job as the ship's chief defence officer. She was knocked off her feet several times along the way, however, this was nothing new, as the familiar motto 'We Brake For Nobody' was etched onto a large number plate on the rear of the Blue Dwarf, although, on Blue Dwarf, this could mean anything from they'd actually hit something to Mini-phil had got a little carried away in a disco somewhere.

 
When Melissa reached hangar bay one, she was aware of two guards on either side of the door, though, as a quick glance at what was under the top half of her medical uniform caused them to allow her to pass, she made little of it.

 
"Jack?" she called as the guards moved apart to allow her passage. There was no answer, although she scurried around the bay for thirty seconds in order to find some clue as to where he might be.
 
She found no clue, but, to her mild surprise, she found a rather clammy, pale looking woman of about the same age as her. Curiosity got the better of Melissa as she walked up to the new aquaintance. Melissa looked down at her name tag to see that her name was Alandra.

 
Alandra seemed somewhat startled when her eyes rested on Melissa's nurse's badge. Her eyes widened in a mixture of fear and anger as she attempted to crawl away from Melissa using only one hand to push herself, the other had a large, bloodstained rag wrapped around it.

 
"Stay away from me! I don't need your help!" Alandra shouted at Melissa.
 
"Calm down" said Melissa, "You've got to let me have a look at that" she indicated, gesturing to the bloodstained rag.
 
Alandra attemtped to back away further but encountered a small flaw in her plan when she realised that she now had her back against a large wall. She conceded, wincing slightly as she allowed Melissa to inspect her wound. As Melissa managed to unravel the bloodstained rag from Alandra's wounded hand, the door to the hangar bay opened, and both Melissa's head of beautiful and straight blonde hair and Alandra's cold and clammy head due to the blood loss turned to view the visitor.
