The comm. line closed and Callum opened a new line. Suddenly, the PA system crackled into life. "Attention …. Kara McGellen and Jessie Carter report to hanger bay 1." Jessie stared in shock. "Who was that - how did he know I'm here?" she demanded, drawing one of her assorted guns. "Oh, that's Callum Kochanski, our head of engineering. Holly probably told him." Jack replied. "You did speak to Hol, didn't you?" She nodded mutely, relaxing slightly. As he closed the channel Callum wiped his hands on a rag and headed for the door. Then he
turned around … "What about you Winters, you coming or what? Guinevere looked up and smiled as she ran to catch up before the large doors closed … "You'd better report." he went on. "Think you know your way back? Bay one isn't far from where you parked the Wyvern." "Sure. I never get lost." She holstered the gun and headed out the door. <<END SNIP>>“I would have thought that you and I had spent enough time together today to know that I wouldn’t say no to away missions.” Guinevere said as she playfully elbowed Callum in the ribs as she caught up with him.“You haven’t even been onboard this rust bucket
all that long, you can’t be sick of it already.” Callum asked as they walked along, though as soon as he finished speaking he realised she could be.Guinevere replied honestly to her senior officer. “I’m not sick of this place … yet. But I do love to get out and about, I get a little stir crazy.” Her hands slid into her pockets as they continued to walk and talk.“I was only making sure you wanted to come along because seeing as we’re about to play space pirates … you might not have been interested.” Callum pointed out.“Not be interested! We’ll be sailing the several galaxies, plundering derelict ships, coming across treasures, wonders and dangers.” Guinevere laughed putting on a pirate accent.“We should find some eye patches, wooden legs and a parrot or two.” Callum laughed joining in on the joke.“I was thinking more a bottle of rum or two, but we could bring your suggestions too … it could be quite interesting.” She winked, enjoying the jokes
and Callum’s Scottish accent.“Well this trip will be you, Jessie and Kara and myself.” He winked back.“Arh … The pirates life for me.” The two began to sing as they reached Bay 1 and waited for Jessie Carter and Kara McGellen to join them.A girl came into the bay via different doors just after Callum and Guinevere arrived, Guinevere guessed that it was either Kara or Jessie, but having meet neither she wasn’t sure. Callum on the other hand had looked Jessie up on the database and hence why he knew to ask for her over the comm, as Jessie was even more new to the crew then Guinevere.“You must be Carter. Thanks for getting here so promptly, we’re just waiting for our pilot McGellen now.” Callum said to Jessie. “I’m Callum Kochanski, Chief of engineering … but call me CK, everyone else does.”“I’m Guinevere Winters, Engineering.” Guinevere smiled slightly at the other girl. “You know Callum, we should really take some alcohol with us on this trip
in case we come across any of those bugs that weren’t killed off and if we don’t see any it could always make the return journey more interesting.” She said pulling out a deck of cards she had in her pocket, she was shuffling them out of habit.“I reckon I could secure a little something, wait here ladies.” Callum said before jogging out of the bay.The girls didn’t have enough time to find a topic for them both to discuss together before Callum was back with two bottles of Jack Daniels and a six pack of Fosters.
