Real Talk
JP with Jaxx, Trustno1 and Cindy
"Thanks, Max," Alyssa commented before closing the backdoor.
The hacker began looking over some of the equipment she had in a box, then she pulled something out of a box. It was flattish and rectangular and black, after a few connections and adjustments to the system in the back of her van, fired up the black flat piece of equipment. It opened and in went the CD. "Cassini did think of everything." Alyssa commented to Peter as she waited for the information to appear on the screen.
"After the CD, perhaps Alyssa can search for what the others found at the library." said Sartre. "Can someone text Choi and Dahilia to see what they found at the library?" he continued.
"Well, we'll probably find out at the meeting, and we have less than an hour before then." She was confused as it was only the two of them in the back of the van. "You could, though, call them, if you wanted.”
"I can wait. I guess I'm just mesmerized from this morning. It is only the two of us here.” Peter watched the petite hacker at work. Later he would discuss with her the isolation such as sitting alone at lunch.
"And we have a ......report?" Alyssa sighed, she typed a few things. "I'm going to run it through a program for cryptic messages, and here..." The young woman sent the story to Peter's phone. Then to Max's with a side note. Max, this was what was on the CD. Read it if you like.
"I guess it's reading time." Alyssa said.
She was quiet for a few minutes as the words etched into her brain. Alyssa made sure Peter was done reading before she spoke again. "So, an area around London called Crouch End. People went missing."
She then sent the report to the rest of the team with the explanation that it was what was on the CD. Alyssa rubbed her temple, "Well, I guess it's more trying to figure out the connection." Shaking her head, a little.
The woman typed some more looking up information about Crouch End, the area itself seemed alright. Actually, considered one of the best places to live.....etc. "I think I've got something. There are two powerful let lines that run under the clock tower. The site, of the clock tower is where a wooden cross used to sit." There was more, "Rodger Bolingbroke - executed for witchcraft in 1441 - he's somehow connected to Crouch End." Reading some more, "The Highgate Vampire? Which sounds similar to the reports." What did any of that had to do with Gary, Indiana and what they had found so far?
While waiting in the unencryption program to work, she texted, Max, you want a soda or something?
Then they hacker turned to Peter, as she opened the door to a mini-fridge, "Did you want a soda?”
"A Ginger Ale. You have beef jerky in your fridge.” Sartre grabbed the bag, grabbing two pieces for each of them. "Hackers need protein," he said playfully.
"Oh, yeah I had forgotten about that," Alyssa commented, then handed him the ginger ale, and got herself an orange soda. A smile crossed her face with his quip, she sat down with the pieces of jerky and her soda.
"Are you finding anything interesting? he asked. “Anything I can do to help, you seem frustrated Alyssa." he said.
"I don't think so, I do wish the program to uncrypt the CD would work a little faster." Alyssa paused. "You must have some questions about what you saw last night, in my mind.”
"While that loads, I guess I can ask you some questions, you used to sit alone at lunch? Why?” He didn't want to upset the hacker. He knew she was getting more confident.
Alyssa shrugged, but also sighed. "I was eight years old and extremely introverted. How many high schoolers want to be around an 8 year old?" She paused. "I got very used to being alone.”
He waited to see if she would respond to what he said in the chip. he liked it when her palor would be covered by a blush. "But you're intelligent, why didn't your mother Want you talking about processors?”
Agent Powers saw the text reading Max, you want a soda or something?. He texted back that he was fine. Then he went back to reading his messages on his phone as he kept an eye out for trouble. However as he read the long message he got rather confused by what he was reading. It looked like a story for a movie or a book, but he struggled to understand it. Max was not much of a book worm especially since he could watch the movie in 2 hours and get the gist of the story. When he had to read a lot his brain got numb and his attention span dwindled. He was not sure but he think it had to do with vampires. If that was the case he did have some holy white phosphorus ammo that would set any target on fire when hit. The main issue with using that ammo was friendly fire so he needed to be careful. Then he responded to his father's texts and update him on their status.
Alyssa glanced at her phone as it buzzed. "It's Max." She sent their guard a thumbs up emogee.
Back to Peter, "My mother is ... I was never the child she wanted. She wanted a child who would be in interested in what she was or well wasn't as smart as I was. I wanted to talk about things the other children didn't understand. I couldn't just turn it off, and that's what my mother wanted. It was the last real time I spent in any playgroup and my mother pretty much started ignoring me at that point. I think she was embarrassed by me.”
"She should have been proud of you," Peter. said. "So you were sent to live with your relative, you swallowed a bee and joined The Illuminati?” Can I ask you a serious question? What exactly is that thing that's after you? Is it the dreamers? It calls itself the dark.”
"Back up a bit, I wasn't sent to live with relatives." Not sure where he got that. "My nanny was left in charge of me until I went to college. Then my father got me into the Illuminati." She nodded, he could ask her a serious questions. "I don't think its the dreamers. It's the same dark force that's been after me, since it took my father. The one he escaped from, that had him before the Linch got him. I called it "the dark" because I don't know what it is.”
"It said it was interested in you and not your father. What could be the reason for that? And I will protect you from it, Alyssa."
"I think it's because of my bee. I have power I can't tap into. If this thing can tap into it, then it could use that power for it's own purpose. Which I doubt is for anything beneficial." Alyssa lightly touched his arm. "Thank you, for that.”
"You are welcome Alyssa. That cd is running slow." He said.
"Old tech, meets new tech. The two don't always get along." Alyssa responded.
"It's fun just spending time with you, Alyssa.”
"I like spending time with you, as well." She smiled at him. Then turned back towards the computer screen. "Got something." Her brow rose. "Here look.." The hacker moved aside so Peter could look at the now uncoded message. "That signature. Clan Toreador?”
" Toreador? Prince? Ever heard of these before?" he asked.
"No," Alyssa shook her head. "I have.....oh wait...." She pulled out her phone, turned on another computer screen and linked her phone so the image could be seen larger on the computer screen. "This is what I was sent that I was going to mention at the meeting." She put up the graphic on the screen. "Clans are mentioned here "
"Seven clans? Who is this King Ventrue? What is Black Dog Games?" he asked. "Could we go back to the hotel and look at this stuff Alyssa, We could slip into something comfortable."
"No idea, definitely something to discuss at the meeting." Alyssa glanced at the time, "Speaking of which the meeting is soon. So, no time for that.”
"So now we head to the meeting.”
"Yup," she replied. Alyssa got her items and opened the back of the van. "Max, we're ready. It's almost time for the meeting.”
Agent Powers gave Alyssa a smolder then nodded as he put his phone away. He didn't want to look dumb by mentioning he didn't get the details of his messages so he kept quiet about it. So instead he looked around then popped his chest muscles a few times before going with his team back to the hotel.
