Unsettled

Choi Yeong sat in the lotus position upon the top of the Jindo Tower. He had just finished his meditation. Although he was at peace with himself, he was unsettled. His first mission without the oversight of Master Park was refreshing and successful.

Although the first few days back at the monastery was an adequate respite, he missed the camaraderie that he had formed with the others. The monastery was too quite for him.

He had not requested another partner as he thought he might do during the mission. Moon Eun-Ji did jump in at the last altercation. She impressed Choi, so she may prove to be a compatible partner.

Master Sung was wise and powerful. He wasn’t sure if Sung would continue to lead the two, or if he had only been there because it was the team’s first assigned mission. Yeong wouldn’t mind working with him again.

The Illuminati and Templars he had met had all done their part. He chuckled at the polar opposites of the Little Hacker, as he called Alyssa, and Agent Powers. There was something unusual about Powers, but Choi hadn’t figured that out. Yet.

The two Templars were mysterious, showing up at the last minute. The one was a princess; the other used magic to heal his arm.

In fact, Yeong required much magic for healing this mission, mostly by being impaled by something. His first night back, Yeong dreamed he had ended up on one of Vlad the Impaler’s stakes. He wondered if that meant vampires would be the enemy in the near future. However, he realized it was just a dream and not one of his visions.

He felt the presence of one approaching behind him. He recognized the aura. “Master Park,” Choi addressed the old man. “I have finished the morning meditation.”

“Yet,” Park answered, “you are restless.”

Choi had come to the conclusion a while ago that monastery life was not for him. This mission confirmed that. He was not a monk. He yearned companionship.

“It’s okay,” Park affirmed to Choi. “I always knew this day would come.”

Choi was relieved to hear those words. He stood and grinned at Park.

Park continued by jesting, “Too many monks and not enough females, eh? Perhaps you should try Los Angeles.”
