Kailus: A shot it is worth

Kailus nods to Veyna as she takes the gathered reins and tosses the flaming brand at one of the coyotes.

"Right you animals!" he shouts, adding to the din and further warding off the attack.

Instead he draws his longbow, taking aim at the most exposed of the creatures. He only needs to kill or wound a couple before the others will think better of the attack. Added to which, the meat from the wounded creature would serve to sate the creatures' immediate need.
