Nurses at Work
Cynthia’s Subterranean Mutant Colony - Wyoming
Deep beneath the rocky embrace of the Bighorn Mountains, nestled within the hidden sanctuary of the subterranean mutant community, was the underground medical wing. The vast, labyrinthine structure was a testament to Johnathan and other elemental mutant ingenuity and resilience, formed since the Rupture to serve as a safe haven for those gifted with extraordinary abilities.
Upon entering the medical wing, a sense of calm enveloped anyone who crossed the threshold. Softly humming fluorescent lights illuminated a series of underground tunnels leading to different rooms designated for medical purposes. The air carried the sterile scent of antiseptics, mixed with an undertone of herbal essences.
The main treatment area was large and well-equipped. The room was divided into several areas. In one corner, a collection of advanced medical equipment stood ready for use, including an impressive array of monitors, ultrasound machines, and other devices, meticulously maintained by a skilled group of mutant engineers. Acquiring such precious equipment had been no small feat.
In the center, a row of hospital beds were occupied by patients who required treatment. Each bed was equipped with monitoring systems and had soft, adjustable bedding for comfort. The walls were covered with handmade artwork to try and brighten the interior decor.
The medical staff consisted of a dedicated team of mutant nurses and volunteers, of varying experience and backgrounds. They moved about the room with grace and precision, delivering care and compassion to those in need. Among them was Dr. Khunara, the new arrival. Khunara was busy tending to a patient named Lydia, an adept telepath.
In the quiet corner of the room, another group of nurses attended to a particularly challenging case: Finlay. The nurses meticulously monitored his vital signs, adjusting the intravenous fluids that coursed through his veins to rehydrate his severely parched body.
Finlay lay on a hospital bed, his breathing slow and steady, now absent of the fevered gasps that had plagued him earlier. Despite his unconscious state, he was wrapped in warm blankets that were crucial to maintain his body temperature.
A nurse carefully examined his pale skin, noting the visible signs of dehydration and malnutrition. The room was kept at a comfortable temperature, essential to counteract the effects of the cold environment he had been exposed to.
With monitoring equipment at her disposal, a nurse adjusted the IV flow rate while another nurse focused on providing gentle massages to alleviate muscle guarding.
Finlay's condition had vastly improved since his arrival, thanks to the expertise of Dr. Khunara and the present nursing team. They had employed a range of treatments to stabilize him, from rehydration to gentle therapies that encouraged muscle relaxation.
The team of medical professionals worked seamlessly, each member attending to their assigned duties, while a symphony of medical terminology echoed softly in the background. the care and compassion they provided had a timeless, human quality.
