Patience Of The Wind
Sophia looks up when she hears the vocal tones of wolf and the whinnies of a horse, both unfamiliar to her. A hand slides into her coat of animal skins and grips onto her bone knife as a precaution as she makes a quick clicking noise with her tongue. This sound is something she knows Honey will recognize from years of proper training.
Trotting over to her, the wolf-dog stays close and watches ahead with ears twitching. Honey understands they are friendly calls, but her instincts to protect Sophia are strong and if they dare to harm her, the wolf within will strike.
Though neither feels no I'll will it is always smart to be cautious in this world. The destruction of a once stable humanity still struggles to regain its footing and Sophia is no fool to the pain it can bring. With her mother stolen at too young an age, she was a victim of a cruel father until the wind touched her soul. Now, she trusts it to lead her wherever she must go.
Honey sniffs the air a few times, but makes no move to strike as the horse drawn wagon comes toward them. Or is it a carriage? She is never good at understanding the difference between human transport. All the wolf-dig is certain of is that her companion is being cautious and thus she will be too.
Sophia allows them to come closer, watching with dark blue eyes and keeping silent for the time being. She takes note of both the horse and owl, but it is the rider that shocks her. This man seems so calm and serene amidst all this tension, as if he is unafraid. Is he foolish? Brave? Or just unafraid? she silently ponders, taking in his tall frame and strong physique.
Both she and Honey tilt their heads to the side in unison, like curious pups trying to find reason behind an activity unfamiliar to them. Grip tight on her knife, she calls to the stranger in a calm tone.
"What do I owe such a chance meeting along an empty dirt path?" She asks and hears a soft snort from Honey. The wolf-dog always sends to find human interactions strange, but does nothing more.
They await a reply patiently.
