Evie - Broken Promise
Five Years Ago…
The moment she awoke, she found herself locked within a room with metal walls and too many cameras. Her blue eyes glanced all around, taking in the room as she got to her feet. Something clinked and clanged close to her in this darkened room with dim lights that would pulse and only give her small glances of what was around her.
There was a sudden screech as an intercom started up at the door. “Hello, Evie…or, as you’re better known as, Lightning Bringer.” The voice was cold and calm, masculine and had a hint of amusement in it. These were all things she had learned about while with Kiana, Gelf, and Sorley.
Speaking of them, where were they? Why weren’t they with her?
“I’m sure you’re probably wondering where you are, hm?” The voice inquired with a chuckle. “Well, you’re in the most secure facility of MegaCorp possible. This one is a single room with our lab and resting quarters. Want to know how deep underground you are?”
“Let me leave,” Evie protested, trying to walk toward the door, only to trip on the shackles around her ankles with a yelp. Keeping herself from sustaining too much damage by using her hands to soften the fall, she looked toward her legs to find shackles around her ankles. There were little green lights on them. “W-what…what is this?”
“Your personal prison, Miss Evie.” The voice responded soothingly. “You see, we no longer need Loreen and have…disposed of her. This place is undocumented. Your transfer here is undocumented. Do you know what that means?” He paused for effect and chuckled. “It means no one is coming to save you.”
“N-no…they’ll save me. My friends will save me!” Evie stuttered as tears threatened to fall down her face. “Mal and Bishop and everyone will…will…”
“They won’t,” The voice interrupted. “So, here is how it is, Miss Evie. You do what we tell you when we tell you to do it with no complaints or objections. If you don’t…”
There was a pause just before a sudden burning pain shot through the silvered hair girl, eliciting a scream from her as she writhed on the floor. The tears finally fell as her fingers grabbed at the collar and tried to pull to no avail.
And then the pain was gone as fast as it had arrived. She lay there, shuddering slightly from the pain and still feeling as if her skin was on fire. The fabric of her shirt and pants was painful to the touch now.
“Understand now, Miss Evie?” The voice inquired.
Struggling to sit up by pushing at the floor on shaky arms, Evie nodded and sniffled.
“Good girl…”

Each day after that felt like forever to Evie. Any time she so much as protested with a noise, they would hurt her, letting that fire-like pain engulf her body for longer and longer periods of time until she couldn’t move. They would return her to the bed to calm down, only to draw blood and torment her again and again.
There was a man they often sent in during her breaks that almost looked familiar but it was hard to tell with how blurry her vision was at these times. He never did anything bad to her - merely cleaned her up and tended to her injuries, but that never stopped her from flinching and whimpering in fear.
This went on for months and each day she prayed that someone, - Kiana, Gelf, Sorley, Mal and Bishop - anyone would come save her. Every day she was disappointed and fell asleep in tears, shaking both in fear and pain.
After almost half a year, they sent someone in - a man that appeared to be the same age as her and he would force himself upon her. She would scream and writhe, fighting back to the best of her ability with her powers so heavily suppressed. Nothing would stop them from doing this…
That same man would return every single day to force her legs apart and fill her core. Each day she wept and was always happy when it turned out she was not pregnant. They began to suspect that she could not have children and talked about having a surgery done to her to fix this.
The man stopped visiting for a few years after this revelation. No surgery seemed to happen. She was alone and breaking more and more with each day.
One morning she woke up, thinking someone familiar was next to her - Bishop? Mal? She wasn’t sure, but when she reached over, reality settled in and she was alone once again. “No…why? You…you promised. You promised to keep me safe.” She whispered.
It was becoming painfully obvious that no one was coming for her…
