JP - Herbert doesn't remember much
That was when a knock at the door could be heard. It was loud enough for Kiana to hear, but not so loud as to wake up Evie.
Kiana went over to the door. “Who is it?” She asked softly.
“Nurse,” The woman said from the other side. “Are you Kiana? We wanted to let you know Herbert is awake and asking for you.”
“Oh.” Kiana looked at Evie. “I’d see him, but I don’t want Evie to be left alone.”
“I can stay here with her,” The nurse said and brushed her hair back. “We’re trained to help patients with her mental stability, but I think so long as there are no men in the room she will be fine.” That was true…
Kiana was hesitant to leave Evie with a stranger, even a female nurse. “She’s really scared.”
“We are aware, but she is comfortable with female doctors and nurses.” The woman explained calmly, though she did look a little worried about Whiskers. “So long as…uh…he does not assault me, things will be fine.”
“Evie knows Frisk and Leimomi.” Kiana said. “I don’t know how she’ll be with female doctors and nurses she doesn’t know.”
Whiskers climbed out from under the blanket and stood protectively over his goddess. <I won’t let anyone harm my Goddess!>
Evie grumbled and pulled Whiskers back to her, snuggling her face against his side. “It’s fine, Kiana…” She mumbled.
The nurse stared at Whiskers nervously.
Whiskers gave the nurse a warning look.
"Okay. But if you need to call anyone -" Kiana gave Evie her phone. "I still have the same code." She used to share her phone with Evie when she first came to the phone. "Look at the photos at your own risk." She warned and headed out to see Herbert.
Evie merely set the phone next to her pillow and went back to sleep.
Herbert was sitting up in bed, looking paler than usual and touching the bandages where his arm should be. He looked horrified to be missing the limb.
“Hey Herbert.” Kiana greeted, she still expected him to be a pig. “How’s it going?”
Herbert was quiet for a moment before looking at Kiana, almost in a daze. “...It hurts.” He finally said, his voice full of confusion. It was as if he wasn’t the Herbert she knew anymore.
“I’m sorry.” Kiana said, her green eyes full of sympathy. “Did they give you anything for the pain?”
He nodded and started to tug at the bandages. “Where’s my arm? Who…you called me Herbert? Who’s that?” He stared at her now. Thrane had obviously done more than cut off his arm.
“Oh, shit.” Kiana pressed on the call button. “It’s okay, Herbert.” Kiana lied.
“Yes?” A voice almost immediately replied over the little speaker.
“It’s not okay…where’s my arm?” Herbert persisted.
“Herbert needs a doctor, right away!” Kiana did not know the medical jargon. She turned to Herbert. “An evil fucker cut it off. Try to calm down, Herbert.”
Herbert just frowned.
“Understood, we’ll be there soon,” The voice said and cut off. It would take only about three minutes before a few doctors walked in, followed by nurses. They were gentle as they got him to stop messing with the bandages.
“You can’t do that, okay?” One of them said. “You need to let it heal.”
“Is he still speaking as if he can’t remember much?” Another asked.
“Much? He doesn’t seem to remember a single fucking thing!” Kiana snapped at the doctors. She did not expect it to be this bad.
“He remembers you.” They told her.
“Kiana, make them stop touching me! I don’t like this!” Herbert tried to kick one of the nurses away.
“Herbert! Stop kicking! They’re trying to help you!” Kiana scolded.
Herbert stalled and looked at Kiana. “...okay, but…I don’t want to be here. I want to go home…where…where is home? I can’t remember…”
“Whatever happened to him, they erased all memories except about you…” The doctor informed Kiana as they took care of Herbert and fixed his injury again.
“Shit.” Kiana said, and tried to reach out to Herbert telepathically. <The Farm, with Gelf and Sorley.>
<I don’t remember a Farm…and who are Gelf? And Sorley?> Herbert replied as he grimaced and smacked one of the nurses hands away. He hated how they touched him, hated how so many people were in the room. All he wanted was to sit and talk to Kiana.
“Stop hitting them, they’re trying to help you heal.” Kiana said. <Gelf owns the Farm. She’s Sorley’s girlfriend- now his fiancee. Sorley is my brother.>
Herbert's thoughts were a jumble of things from frustration to fear. Kiana would hear his confusion as he forced himself not to retaliate against the medical team. He truly had no clue what Kiana was talking about and that scared him greatly.
