JP - Under Elizabeth's Protection

Somehow Min managed to fall asleep for what was probably several hours. Unfortunately when the painkillers wore off she woke up in severe pain. She whimpered and tried not to move.

A doctor, upon hearing Min, walked over and pulled the curtain aside. “Can you be quiet, idiot?!” He snapped. “We’re working here!”

“Sorry.” Min whispered, her eyes bright with pain. She knew better than to tell this doctor how she was feeling or ask for anything.

“Fuck off,” Elizabeth’s familiar voice hissed and she shoved the doctor away. “Prick.” Turning to Min, she tried smiling, but could see the pain. “What’s wrong, hon?”

"It hurts." Min whispered.

“I’ll get you something for the pain.” She said and slipped away, soon returning with an syringe of pain killer. Connecting it to the IV, she slowly pushed it in so that Min would be able to adjust. “This should help…”

"Thanks." Min whispered, feeling the dizziness hit her before the pain relief. She closed her eyes and waited for it to take effect.

Elizabeth got done and made sure to dispose of the syringe before gently brushing Min’s hair back. “I told you, I’ll keep you safe sweetheart.” She said in a motherly manner.

Tears trickled from beneath Min’s eyelids.

“What’s wrong?” Elizabeth asked.

Min’s throat was too tight to speak. She was still in so much pain, she knew it would let up soon when the painkiller set in, but she knew she was going to hurt for a long time.

“Oh, honey, it’s gonna be okay. You’re safe with me and Cook around.” Elizabeth persisted.

A small, weak sob escaped her. Before that monster did what he did to her she had not imagined such severe pain.

As much as Elizabeth wanted to hug Min, she did not. “It’s okay to let it out…”

Min looked at Elizabeth, her eyes were full of pain. “It hurts.” She whispered.

“I know, sweetie. I know…” Elizabeth felt her heart breaking for Min.

Min’s breathing was ragged. She had seen what the monster had done to her. She did not know if it was possible to ever heal from this.

Elizabeth gently took Min’s hand, careful not to hurt her as she hummed softly. She hoped this would help the other woman calm down a bit.

“The monster…” Min closed her eyes. “He- he hurt others besides me, right?”

“Yes…many others…both men and women.” Elizabeth explained.

“Did any of them survive?” Min asked, thinking this hurt too much to live through.

“Yes,” Elizabeth replied. “You’re not the only one. You and the others are living proof that he can’t win.”

Min forced herself to breathe slowly. The painkiller was starting to kick in.

“Min, listen to me, you are strong. You survived and that is proof of your strength. Okay?” Elizabeth told her, smiling motherly.

“He’s still out there.” Min whispered.

“I know,” Elizabeth frowned. “Hopefully he won’t be for long, though…”

“Th-they want me to have his baby.” Min stuttered.

“You won’t.” Elizabeth confirmed for her. “Cook gave you the medicine to help keep that from happening.”

“They won’t find out what he’s doing?” Min asked.

“We’re sneaky.” Elizabeth winked.

“When I don’t get pregnant what’s going to stop them from having that monster try again?” Min asked.

Elizabeth merely squeezed Min’s hand very gently. “They won’t because they don’t want me angry and Thrane kind of has a soft spot for me and his other experiments…” She explained.

“Experiments?” Min just found this place more confusing.

“I wasn’t exactly born, Min,” Elizabeth said and held her hand up between them. It transformed into claws and she bent the fingers a few times to prove it was her. “I was born from a bunch of combined DNA and woke up in a tank. Papa Thrane made me…and if I don’t want you hurt, he’ll keep you safe.”

“Oh.” Min was more than a little creeped out but trying to not show it.
