JP - Scary to Live Outside MegaCorp
“See? Even…even Haven knows. Oh, that’s…that’s right. You lived in the village where it happened, right Haven?!” Yule babbled nervously.
“Yeah. She used pheromones to make him vomit.” Haven said.
“That must have felt horrible…” Yule grimaced.
Haven nodded. "Tzeitel…she's kind of scary."
“I bet so. From the stories you’ve told me about her, she can be a loose cannon, but…uhm…she really cares for the people close to her, right?” Yule said.
Haven nodded. “She butted heads with some of the people in the village… most of them turned out to be traitors though…”
“I remember you telling me about that…a lot of people died, didn’t they?” Yule’s ears fell down.
“Yeah…” Haven sighed. “It was how I got caught too.”
“I’ve been in MegaCorp so long I’m not sure how I’ll handle being out here…” Yule admitted.
“I- I know what you mean.” Haven folded her arms. It was still overwhelming.
“We’ll…We’ll get through it together,” Yule said and fiddled around in her long pink hair for a moment. Gently pulling out a little clip with a bell on it, she set it near Haven’t thigh. “You hold onto this to remember that we’re gonna always be here for each other like sisters.”
“Thanks.” Haven said, picking up the hair clip. She wished she had something to give to Yule, but she did not even have a hair clip at the moment.
Yule just smiled, happy Haven accepted the gift.
Haven relaxed a little bit. “Did you want to talk to your sister at all?”
“Maybe later…I’m not really in the mood and I feel like I don’t really know her. We’ve been apart without contact for a very long time.” Yule admitted.
Haven could understand that. She had family that she had not seen since she realized that she had powers and what they did to people. She did not know what she would even say if she saw any of them.
“Don’t get me wrong, I still love Gelf, but…it’s hard to talk to someone you barely know anymore.” Yule explained.
“I can’t even imagine talking to anyone from my family now.” Haven said.
“Why is that?” Yule asked. “Is it because they don’t approve of metas or something? I heard there are activist groups working against our kind…”
“I don’t know how my family feels about metas now.” Haven shook her head. “I hurt them, before I knew I was a meta or what I was doing…” She remembered her miscarriage and felt sick. She felt poisonous.
“Well…you’re family to me.” Yule told her and smiled.
Haven smiled weakly. “Thanks.”
“Anytime,” Yule said and swayed from side to side, the closest to her tail moving she could show.
Haven knew why Yule was swaying and wished her friends still had her tail. It was so cruel to take it from her.
Yule looked at Haven and thought for a moment. “Where do you think I should go after this? With Gelf or…that Alex guy? You’ll always be welcome no matter where I go, but…I just don’t know what to do.”
“I don’t know.” Haven admitted. “From what I know they’re both good people.”
“Maybe I should talk to all of them together? Will you…will you help me with that?” Yule asked. “Since…since you plan to stay with me, I want your opinion and input as well.”
“Okay, sure.” Haven said, toying with the fake fur on her gloves.
“Thank you, Haven,” Yule couldn’t stop the fresh tears that fell down her face and looked at Saija. “I hope they can help you as well.”
Saija looked down at her notepad, not sure what to say. She did not know these people. She was still a little afraid of them, as vulnerable as they seemed now, especially Yule. She was still scared and in pain from the hell that monster had put her through. She did not know where she would end up. She did not know what she would tell her family and friends about what happened to her. Going back to school seemed out of the question. She wanted to hide.
“No problem.” Haven told Yule.
Yule shifted in place and got into her bed for now. “We should just try to rest for now…”
Haven nodded, though she was starting to feel restless. She had spent years in cells, now that she was free… she wanted to go outside, but was also afraid to.
It took Yule hours before she could finally fall asleep…
