JP - Meanwhile, the Real Min Chang
“If you need anything, just ask for me. I go by Cook as well.” He told her before leaving.
Min squeezed the pocket knife. She was afraid but at least she was not alone.
It would be mostly quiet for Min that day. Medical staff would come check on her every hour, checking her vitals and making notes before leaving, but no one would speak to her. Even when or if she tried to speak to them, they would ignore her.
The only one to speak to her was a girl that chose to sit down in the chair. It was Elizabeth and she smiled at Min. "You're the girl I smelled on him." She commented. "Good to know you're doing well. Is Cook treating you good?"
Min looked at Elizabeth, not knowing what to make of her. “Uhm, yes.” She said nervously.
“You’re prettier than I expected.” Elizabeth leaned toward her, but dared not to touch her. “I’m Elizabeth. I help Cook get people out of here.”
“Oh.” Min said. She still felt uneasy.
“What is it?” Elizabeth asked. She was only ever nice to women.
Min shrugged, and regretted the movement. “This is a strange place.”
“Careful,” The strange girl replied, noting the look of pain in Min’s eyes. “You’re looking at a slow healing process, but with Cook’s help you might be able to heal in a safe place. Just…be patient, okay?”
"He said they want me to give them that monster's child." Min said anxiously.
“I know…” Elizabeth gently set a hand on Min’s. “I won’t ever let him touch you again, okay?”
“Okay.” Min said, not sure how this girl could keep that promise. She was still scared.
"Come now, don't sound so doubtful." Elizabeth smiled sweetly. "He knows what will happen if he defies me…"
“What can you do?” Min asked, a little afraid of her.
“Give him a taste of his own medicine.” She answered. “You’re safe with me and Cook around.”
“Oh.” Min said, only half understanding. “Thank you.”
“You don’t need to worry, Miss…uh…what was your name again? I’m horrible with names.” Elizabeth blushed in embarrassment.
“I’m Min Chang.” Min said, not realizing how many people were chanting that just now.
“Well, it’s very nice to meet you, Min Change.” Elizabeth said and held out her hand as if to shake.
Min slowly took the hand. Her own hand was missing most of the fingernails, Clonestone had pulled them out with pliers.
Elizabeth did not miss the lack of fingernails and a sympathetic expression crossed her face. “You poor thing…” She whispered and gently squeezed Min’s hand.
Min looked away, her eyes filling with tears again. Pulling out her fingernails was one of the least things Clonestone did to her, but they were very visible.
“If ya ever want a hug, let me know, okay?” Elizabeth murmured as she let go and looked toward the door.
“N-no thanks.” Min whispered. She had cuts and brands all over her body, as well as spots where her skin was rubbed raw, bruised and bitten. A hug would be incredibly painful.
“Maybe when you’re all healed up.” The odd girl replied and got to her feet. Brushing off, she gave Min another smile. “You’ll be safe in here, okay? Cook and I will get you out.”
“Cook said he would.” Min said, hoping it was true. This place scared her.
“He will.” Elizabeth reassured Min before leaving.
Min tried to rest and relax.
