JP- Soup with Loreen part 2
Piritta bounded through the cabin to the kitchen. “We’re back!”
“Sure,” River said. “I can’t sleep…Amber’s got another cold, so might want to make a bowl for her.”
Loreen shrank into herself a bit, watching Piritta.
"She'll bounce back quickly, I think she got my healing factor" he chuckled, making two more bowls as he waved to Piritta.
Piritta cheerfully flicked off Loreen before turning to River in concern. “Amber’s sick? The girl needs a sauna.”
“The only way we’re getting a sauna again is if you build another one.” River said with a chuckle.
Loreen was confused by Piritta’s gesture.
“Joo, if we’re in one place long enough I’ll build another one.” Piritta said, flipping the double bird at Loreen. “But Amber needs one right away so I better get to work.”
“You want a bowl of soup” Riley asked the Finn “also be nice.”
“I am being nice.” Piritta made a more elaborate rude gesture at Loreen. “The soup smells good.”
Riley gave her a look before serving her a bowl and turning to River “by the way one of is going to have to take her shopping to get clothes.”
“Thank you for the soup, Riley…” Loreen spoke shyly, slowly eating/drinking her soup. It didn’t matter to her if it was bad - food was food at the moment.
River looked at Piritta. “Why not start on a small version until you can get a bigger one made? I’ll be back later.” Taking the bowls of soup, she returned to Amber, who could be heard coughing before the door closed.
“Eat as much as you’d like “ he replied with a smile before giving Amber a quick check and returning.
“I was looking under the sink earlier. We have a lot of those extra large heavy duty garbage bags. Loreen would look fabulous in one, just cut some armholes. Maybe a hole for her head.” Piritta suggested, enjoying the soup. She was already planning to build a sauna.
Loreen frowned, suddenly losing her appetite. “I think I’ll return to my room.” She said softly, getting up and returning to her room a bit too quickly.
Riley glared at Piritta before using his speed to clean. Once finished he caught up to Loreen “I’m sorry about her.”
Not caring about the time, Piritta went outside to get started on that sauna.
“No,” Loreen shook her head. “If I was as bad as you say, I deserve it. I just want to get out of everyone’s way so I don’t upset them.”
“I’m not to going to lie it’s hard being around you sometimes” Riley admitted “you did a lot of horrible things but when I traveled timelines I met other versions of you that were kind. Maybe this memory loss can be a new beginning for you. It may take time for the others to warm up but it’s possible.”
“I don’t want to hurt people…” She whispered, a look of horror in her eyes. “Whatever I used to be, I don’t want to be it again, Riley. Do…do you think they’ll come after me? The ones who took my memory away?”
Riley pulled her into a hug and looked into her eyes “if they do I promise that I will protect you.”
Loreen couldn’t stop the tears that finally fell down her face, unable to speak as she hugged him back. “I should…uhm…rest.” She said, sniffling.
Riley nodded and tucked her into bed “get some rest I’ll be next door if you need me” he replied heading to the door “tomorrow we’ll get you some more clothes.”
“Thank you, again,” She said and curled up under the blanket, attempting to sleep. Sadly, nightmares would wake her up multiple times, leaving her sitting in a cold sweat every time…
Riley would enter her room in the morning to check on her.
Loreen would be found asleep in a corner of the room, blankets wrapped around her like a protective little cocoon. Her hair was a wild mess and it looked as if she’d broken every light in the room.
Riley knelt down to check on her "Loreen?"
Loreen jumped and looked up at Riley. “What? Where am I? What?” There was panic in her eyes for a moment until she realized who was in front of her. “Oh…uh…hi…”
“It’s alright you’re safe” he whispered looking around the room “any idea what happen?”
“The lights hurt my eyes…” Loreen admitted and pulled the blanket over her head. “It reminds me of being on a table and…a knife cutting into me over and over again…”
Riley pulled her into a hug “it’s going to be alright” he whispered “do you remember who hurt you?”
“He called himself Thrane…” She whispered.
Riley tensed up at the mention of that monster “of course it was him.”
“Do…do you know him?” Loreen asked.
“I;ve fought him in the past he’s a real evil bastard” Riley repled “I promise he won’t be able to hurt you anymore.” Taking a moment to calm down he turned back to her “ now let’s go get you some clothes.”
“Okay…” Loreen barely got the word out when her stomach growled audibly in hunger.
Riley chuckled “we’ll get some food on the way” Standing up he offered his hand to Loreen.
Hesitantly, she took his hand and untangled herself from the blankets. “I’ve never had actual warm blankets before…”
“Better get use to them then because I’ll make sure you always have them” Riley replied with a smile.
Loreen couldn't stop the blush from forming on her face and nodded. Getting the blankets back on the bed, she followed him out of the room, stomach growling again.
River met them outside the room. "I kidnapped coffee for us all." She said, holding up two mugs while Amber held up one like her hands were a little tray.
