Chapter 2 Pt 7

Rainey noticed the tension in the room. it made the hair on the back of her neck raise up. she moved slightly away closer to the pin to look in on the calf and mother. " And how exactly is that? " She asked Sam. she didn't like the idea of anything bad for the ranch being out there much less dug up. the mother was licking the calf and looking up at her as if to ask her for help. the calf lay close to her not really moving anymore only small sounds escaping every now and then. it made her heart hurt thinking it might not make it. she shoved her hands deep down in her pockets and turned to look at Sam unable to stomach the pair any more without crying. " What did you find that could be good for us or bad for us?" she didn't say it like she was interrogating him or being snappy just like she really wanted to know.
she watched Alex out of the corner of her eye she could tell he didn't trust this guy and she didn't blame him; they had seen a lot of rough people with ulterior motives. someone always wanted something. it made sense for him to keep his guard up.
